Can't select an app to open just a single file
On MacOS, I want to set the application that opens an individual file, but not all files of that type. Outside my Dropbox folder, that works as usual, but inside it, when I go to "get info", and then change the "open with" app, I get a pop up that says "You don’t have permission to change the application for this document only. Do you want to change all similar documents to open with the application X?"
I've done this many times in the past, including with the same file type and app in my Dropbox folder, so I suspect it has to do with the move to the File Provider API. I'm an admin, and I have read and write permissions on the file. It's a .md file that I want to open with VS Code. MacOS v13.0 (22A380), Dropbox v190.4.6383, Dropbox Plus.

Hi Michael L.68, wishing you a great Monday!
Interesting behavior. Would you be able to attach a screenshot of the message you get, in order for me to have a visual too?
Thanks a bunch!

Hi @Megan, thanks for taking note. Here's a screenshot. Would appreciate any help, thanks!

Hey Michael L.68! So, to clarify, this only started happening right after you installed the Dropbox for macOS on File Provider update, correct?
Have you followed the same steps for other types of files inside Dropbox, and the same thing happens?
What if you quit the Dropbox app? Does the issue persist then?
