Windows Server 2019: LTS App Still Shows Unsupported OS Message
I'm using Dropbox on Windows Server 2019, and recently it stopped working, saying, "Support for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 has ended." They provided a link to download a "Long-Term Support" app, but after installing it, I’m still getting the same message, and it won’t launch.
Has anyone else experienced this? It's frustrating, especially since I already installed the recommended LTS app. Any advice or workarounds?

We notice the same issue with Windows Server 2022. We’re aware that it’s not officially supported by Dropbox but to fully block all access from all Windows Server OSes after it has working from many years is crazy. The warning does say you will be blocking older OSes in May 2025 but not November 13th 2024 or Windows Server 2019/2022.
Even the LTC version can’t help itself to auto update to the latest version which is then blocks it from running.- eaompsNew member | Level 1
It seems to help to disable the Dropbox Update Service (dbubdate and dbubdatem) to prevent updating dropbox to LTS Version

We ended up creating windows firewall rules blocking the DB updater app from getting outbound.

Exactly the same situation as you. 😅

I'm experiencing the same issue you're describing with Server 2019. After installing the LTS version synchronization starts again but stops after a while and Dropbox restarts. In my case, Dropbox has updated itself to v213.3.4380. That is not the LTS version (v210.5.4894) that was originally installed.

Yeah, I also found that after installing LTS version, it was automatically updated to the latest version or something and then the program stopped working.

We are having the same issue on Server 2022 which is not Windows 7, 8, or 8.1, so why is this happening. This will be very bad for our org and needs to be fixed ASAP since we heavily rely on this to sync files to sales reps out in the field from our Art department.

Hi, Jay:
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Dropbox, but the issue still persists.
After installing and logging in, I get the same message saying that support for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 has ended. Shortly after that, the app automatically closes.
