Dropbox app doesn't launch automatically in the menu bar (Mac)

Since I updated Dropbox recently, the app no longer launches automatically nor does it appear in the top toolbar whenever I start up my MacBook. I have to manually launch it every time. I have looked at my list of login items in Mac Preferences, and Dropbox is definitely checked. Does anyone know if I can make the app launch automatically again?

    Can you go to the app's preferences, in the "general" tab and see if the "start Dropbox on system startup" option is enabled?
