Billing Refund timeframe
Hi there, I had to downgrade and ask for a refund because well I was just robbed in Guadalajara and now I have 48 cents. I paid my plan through PayPal debit card as it works well pretty much everywhere and it just so happens to be the one card I didn't take with me. My cash/effectivo, gone, other cards, gone, so Dropbox is downgrading me (understandable) and giving me a refund.
Dropbox says that they've issued the refund, but could take 1-5 biz days. PayPal says that if Dropbox has issued the refund to my debit card it will basically be instant, but it's been a couple of hours and nothing has changed. So who is right and who is wrong? Not mad at anyone, grateful actually. Just trying to figure things out since as I've said, I was just robbed at gunpoint in a foreign country and now I have 48 cents... just waiting for my Dropbox family plan refund to come through.
Yeah, pretty easy to understand... I think. I just want to know when. Kind of in a hurry... definitely need money to live regardless of where you live. Shouldn't take 1-5 business days.
Something I never understood and slightly unrelated. Services can take money from you just snap of the fingers, like that, but issuing money back to you or refunds it takes Pony Express time. Why? Am I asking the universe? I don't know who I'm asking. Just seems like if they can take it that fast they should be able to give it back that fast as well. Yeah? Or am I way out of bounds.
Anyway, someone please fill me in because since I'm downgraded I can't actually talk to anyone from "Dropbox", which is a gray area of understandable and kinda weird. Whatever, I just need some answers if someone has the knowledge, time, and empathy to provide them.
Thanks so much, very much appreciated. Love and respect y'all.

Hi DS_86, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
When a refund is authorized on our end, in general it takes 3 to 5 business days for a refund to be processed by payment vendors.
You can confirm if the refund had gone through by checking this page on your account.
If you have any further queries, feel free to message back.

Thanks Jay! Yeah it went through... which brings me to the question and maybe not for you to answer. Why is PayPal saying that it will be instant when after being issued? Very frustrating and confusing and feeling grateful at the same time... you know? Not you or PayPal's fault I just would like it in my account as fast as Dropbox took it from my account... does that make sense? I don't get why it takes so long, federal this and that, so what? If it's taken from my account it should be able to go back into my account with the same quickness yeah? Or like I asked in my post, am I way out of my depth?
Like I said, very appreciative and grateful, just 3-5 biz days man... like are y'all looking over my taxes and doing an audit? What takes that long? I think they "dealt" with the Chernobyl meltdown in that time frame. This is a cancellation and refund Jay.Also, if the money isn't in my account, then I should still get to use the service no? Like speaking to someone on the phone or chat with an agent? Like, because technically until the money is in my account, I've still paid for the service. Once the money is in my account, the refund is all said and done, the service is no longer... until next week when I get paid.
This is a bizarre situation and I hope you can understand where I'm coming from. Grateful and a little annoyed at the same time. Always be a Dropbox customer (except right now... kinda have to put that on hold for a week). But 3-5 days Jay, thats a lot of hours of what? What's happening during that time? That's maybe next Tuesday dude... ugh. Or Wednesday, like wow man. Let's go.
But for real, thank you, I appreciate it, lets just go, please. Getting robbed sucks, getting a pistol pointed at your chest sucks. Having less than 50 cents in a foreign country is a little scary and I'm already shaken dude.
