I've always been able to login with just email and password, but now a decade later it is wanting me to enter in a 6 digit code sent to the email associating with the account that I no longer have access to. No use contacting Google, I hardly used the email so I just wouldn't even be able to verify anything. The thought of losing all my family pictures from that time makes me ill. Do I need to get a lawyer or how do I go about verifying ownership without the email?

Without access to the email (or another device already signed in to the account) it's not possible to gain access to the account. Your best option will be to contact the mail provider and see if the email address can be reactivated.

Unfortunately, your email address is the only way to verify an account. If you no longer have access to the email address and you're being sent a verification code, you'll need access to the email address before you can gain access to the account. Your best option is to contact the mail provider and see if the email account can be reactivated.

I am trying to log into a dropbox account for a business we acquired years ago and i don't have access to the email on file to receive the verification code. Is there anyway to log into my account with two-step verification another way?

As the link Rich gave unless you have a device already logged in there isnt a way, no.

Hi! I need to log in to my Dropbox account but I don't remember my password and I don't have access to my email. I tried to log in a couple of times but each time Dropbox sends me a six number digital code to the email address in which I cannot log in to. Is there any way to access my dropbox content anymore? I really need some files in the account.
Sincerely,
Sofia

Hi sofiaesss, sorry to hear about this!
I am afraid that without access to the email address, it'd be tough to gain access to the account itself. Do you have any old, connected devices that would help you see the files in the account?
If I were you, I'd try to contact the email service provider and see if they can reactivate the address -even temporarily- so you can receive the verification code.
I hope this helps!

Hi-
Like several people have posted, I no longer have access at all to an email address associated with one drop box account. When I try to log in to that account with that email address the system wants to send me a code to the old, disabled email address. I DO have another dropbox account and have access to that account but I need to access files in the other account--how can I do this? Can the account I no longer have a working email associated with be transferred to my other account that I do have access to? Or can a code be sent to my phone number so I can get into the account without a working email??

Hi mhaugh69, thanks for posting her today!
You mentioned that you need to connect to an older account, but you don't receive the security email.
Without access to the email address linked to the Dropbox account, there's not much that we can do, I'm afraid. Is it possible that you have any devices, linked to that old Dropbox account of yours, so you can download your content that way?
I'd also suggest that you reach out to your email provider, to see if they can re-create that email for you.
I hope this clarifies!

Hi Megan-
I was just able to access on the dropbox app on my phone the account associated with the old email I no longer have access to (that whole email domain is shut down) I don't see a way in the app to change my email address to my working one?

Hi, I used dropbox with my school email account which ends with .edu few years ago.
Few month ago, google removed all the emails that ends with .edu and made us make new gmail account.
I am trying to login to my previous dropbox account that was registered with my removed gmail account, but its keep asking me to verify with that removed account.
What should I do to access it?
- Hannah2 years agoDropbox Staff
Hey wok1909, thanks for reaching out to the Dropbox Community.
I'm afraid that without access to the email address, there's no way for us to verify your ownership of the account and give you access.
Do you perhaps have any devices linked to it still, so you can access and download your files?
You also recommend you contact your email service provider, to help you temporarily regain access to the email address.
I hope this helps.

Hello, I am 24 years old living in Korea. I posted my picture on the dropbox at least 10 years ago. There is something important left in my memory. I really want to check the pictures again. The email address I registered in my ID has been deleted before and cannot be restored again. When I logged in to the dropbox, the authentication number was sent to the same address as my ID, but I can't check the email. What should I do?

Hi hyeontaekim, welcome to our Community!
You mentioned that you need to connect to an older account, but you don't receive the security email, since you don't have access to the email address.

I have another Dropxbox account, which has files i need to access, but the email address i used no longer exists, and im unable to retrieve the password to confirm the account. I need to access this account, can anyone help?
- Megan2 years agoDropbox Staff
Hi Kristy Crooks, thanks for posting here today!
The issue is that without access to the email address associated with the account, there's no way to verify ownership of the account.
Is it possible to reach out to the email service provider, to ask them to re-enable the email?
Let me know more!
- Kristy Crooks2 years agoExplorer | Level 4No I can't, it was an old work email address, and they changed it a little, so any of the old addresses stopped receiving emails late last year! It's a shame I can't verify any other way, like another email or mobile phone

Hello All,
Our company changed our email addresses. When they did, the idea was that we would have access that would be on-going with no end. That didn't pan out. My old Dropbox is now inaccessible. I have many important files that are beyond my reach and need to figure this out. Does anyone have insights for me?
Thank you so much!
Mark

If you've forgotten your password or you're being asked for a one-time security code, then it won't be possible to sign in to your Dropbox account without access to the email address associated with it. The only other option is if you have another active device that's already signed in with which you can receive the code.
Your best chance is to get access to the old email address. If your company still owns the old email domain name, it should be easy for your IT department to set up an email alias that points your old email to your new email.
- Anouschka12 years agoNew member | Level 2Hello everyone,
I’ve been trying to get excess to my old Dropbox. My old Dropbox is linked to an old e-mail, which I forgot the password from. Recently I found the e-mails password, but Microsoft blocked the e-mails password. I can’t ask for an new Dropbox password, because it’s linked to my old hotmail account. How can I get acces again to my old Dropbox? I had so many old pictures on it. I can cry😭😭😭😭.
Kind regards,
Anouschka- Hannah2 years agoDropbox Staff
Hey Anouschka1, thanks for reaching out to us today.
Your best bet in regaining access to your Dropbox account, is to regain access to the email address.
I would absolutely suggest reaching out to Microsoft, so they can help you regain access, because without access to your email, there's not much we can do on our end.
