You might see that the Dropbox Community team have been busy working on some major updates to the Community itself! So, here is some info on what’s changed, what’s staying the same and what you can expect from the Dropbox Community overall.
Will Dropbox Paper for web consider support offline mode for Dropbox Web just like google docs in the future?
- EmmaCommunity ManagerStatus changed:InvestigatingtoNot for right nowThanks for your idea! This is not something the team are looking into right now. However, we regularly re-evaluate ideas and will update you if anything changes!

Totally appreciate the "not right now" mark and your update, Emma! Thought I'd add some more context anyway in the hopes that this eventually makes its way into a PM's brain.
I love writing using Paper. Whether it's taking notes, or writing a ranting blog-post-esque piece, or writing a product problem exploration, it's the best, cleanest place for me to do it and feel at peace. It's hands-down my number one choice for online editing tools, which is why it's such a shame I probably have to stop using it.
I'm a product consultant, and spend a lot of time working from places that are not workplaces. Sometimes I have an epiphany on a long flight from the east coast, or sometimes I'm working (or trying to) from Viva La Tarte, which strangely does not have wifi. Sometimes I just want to work from the park like the spoiled SF person I am. The problem? I don't have wifi in those places.
Think about writing from a coffee shop that does not have wifi. What's the app you want to use to remain in the peaceful zen state you're lulling yourself into? Paper. Of course. You're looking for distraction-free words-flowing simple yet powerful Paper. Instead, you're using Google Docs in offline mode and every time you look at its chrome you want to throw up a little in your mouth.
Look, I get it - this doesn't match up with your top-level goals. But wow would I be your biggest
promotercheerleader if you figured out an elegant solution for this. I've already got my dropbox files synced to my laptop... I'd love to get my papers as well.(Note: even if you don't make an offline app per se, it would be awesome to be able to just sync the file and edit with a text editor when offline. The main thing is, I want to use Paper when I'm connected to WiFi, and I'd like to be able to read/edit those things when I'm not connected.)

- gamunuExplorer | Level 3Indeed whoever manage paper project is an idiot, this request opened few years ago and he decided not right now. At least add the markdown file sync capability using the dropbox client. I'm not going to renew my purchase if this not available. How the I'm going to work on my notes when I'm traveling or in flight. This is useless without offline mode.

Hi Gamunu
Forums work best if we keep personal judgment out of the posts. Would you consider editing your post?
Thank you

we need offline capabilities, otherwise we won't need dropbox paper... simple :)
- lemurlikeNew member | Level 2Paper mysteriously went offline for 30 mins this morning leaving me stranded. I use it in a Chrome browser on my Mac. I love this web app but not being able to continue working while some comms issue is happening is just impossible.

Hey lemurlike, thanks for the nudge. Luckily, this had been resolved within the day & Dropbox Paper should be up and running now. Nonetheless, we appreciate your patience as we’ve been working to sort it out!
- lemurlikeNew member | Level 2I appreciate the reply, Jane!

I think Paper is great, but has a fatal flaw. The files it creates are not stored as Dropbox files. This means yet another app that tries to lock you in with a proprietary file format.
Why was the decision made to make Paper not use the underlying Dropbox file sync mechanism?
