You might see that the Dropbox Community team have been busy working on some major updates to the Community itself! So, here is some info on what’s changed, what’s staying the same and what you can expect from the Dropbox Community overall.
I don't want Dropbox to remove my files
I installed Dropbox for one reason: to download and keep files there until I decide to remove them; however, Dropbox apparently seems to see its role in another way, and every time I've asked for an explanation, I'll get the same response: send a screenshot. That's when I give up in frustration. Today, I've lost or misplaced an important file, and I have to try again, but I still see no need to send a screenshot. Anyway, here is what I expect from Dropbox: 1. When I download a file there, I expect it to remain there until I decide to remove it. THAT'S IT, BUT MAYBE MORE IS NEEDED. (1) I don't want Dropbox to ask me if I really want to keep my file in Dropbox. (2) I don't want Dropbox to remove that file without my permission. Can you help me with this problem? Do users removed from shared folders receive a notification?
If I remove a user from a shared folder (being myself the owner of the folder), will that user that has been removed receive a notification? I'd like to remove a user from one of my shared folders, but I don't want that user to know that they have been removed.
Dropbox keeps uploading photos, even after camera uploads has been disabled
as per instructions i have stopped auto download of photos but no sooner I painstakingly delete all photos, Dropbox immediately uploads photos again and i start to get message, "upgrade for more space". I believe this is a scam Dropbox is running to lure people in buying more space. I have already chosen "take no action" in "choose AutoPay defaults". what else should i do to stop Dropbox uploading photos by default
Can I backup my Dropbox files to an external drive, and then delete them from Dropbox?
So, if I permit Dropbox to backup my files (onto a portable HD), which somewhere along the way my new Dropbox said I could do (so I clicked on it before loading up my photos on Dropbox) --then could I simply delete the photos from my Dropbox and they'd stay on the portable HD, but be gone from the Dropbox?? It seems like a cumbersome way to do this, but apparently the backup is storing stuff on my portable HD, so it's kind of like moving a copy there to keep??? Thanks
