I joined another Dropbox account for a project, and unshared after the project was over. This appeared to just permissions system, but now all my files and folders have been deleted. After looking at my payments, it appears my last monthly payment was refunded. I'm not sure what the hell happened, but it appears my whole account was erased and I'm losing my mind on how this could have happened. Did I transfer my account over to a different user? Is this even possible? I need to restore my files and don't see any way to access anyone by phone. Any help would be appreciated!11Views0likes0CommentsI no longer see the option to leave a copy of the shared folder I'm unsharing to its members.
My question is what happens when I "remove" a share email. And what happens if I just delete the folder without removing the shares first? In previous versions of Dropbox I was able to un-share a folder (I am the owner) with the option to let other users keep the contents. I could then delete the folder without removing their content. Today (March 2025) I am not finding those options. It appears I can only remove shared emails with no option for them to keep their copy of the files?67Views0likes13CommentsI've accidentally removed my personal folder from the team and I can't find it anywhere.
Hello, unfortunately as an admin I have removed access to my *personal* folder in Dropbox. What can I do? The folder can no longer be found. I accidentally pressed the Remove ALL button. Now all my personal data is gone88Views0likes14CommentsFiles are being deleted and moved to Dropbox without my permission
(1) It deletes files I have downloaded to Dropbox for safekeeping without my knowledge or permission. (2) It installs my files to Dropbox without my knowledge or permission. I have written about this before, but have never received a reply. How can I get Dropbox to stop making these unauthorized moves? Dropbox signature feature - the long list of signed files on this page on dropbox.com is not transparent enough. There's no clear way to tell quickly and easily who has permission to view these files. This can be worrying for an Admin! Also, I can't delete / remove these files. When I click on the 3 dots I can only download and preview. Dropbox support confirmed the only way to delete the file is to open each one and delete from there. This is not practical with hundreds of documents being signed. We need to be able to clear / tidy this list easily - bulk delete would be awesome. Thank you.19Views0likes1CommentMy account shows there are 33GB of backups, but my Backups page is empty.
Hello, My account shows that it's out of storage, I have only 180MB in regular files and a 33GB backup, but I don't see it anywhere else than in the subscription page. Nothing on the backups page. I can't delete this file to free up the space. Where can I find access to it?Solved336Views0likes6CommentsAccount deleted by my old business partner. Can I restore it?
Hi There! I’m looking for help regarding my Dropbox account, which I’ve had for over 8 years. Recently, I tried to log in and discovered that the account has been deleted. This account contains a significant amount of personal and client-related videos and photos, and losing access to it has been devastating. Here’s some context that might help: Two months ago, my business partner locked me out of all accounts associated with my work email due to a messy separation. My Dropbox account was originally a personal account, created before I joined the company, and was not paid for or created by the business. At some point, I switched the account’s email to my work email, but I didn’t realize this until now. I suspect my former business partner may have gained access to the account and deleted it. I’m hoping there’s a way to recover the deleted account and its contents, as well as change the account’s email address to a personal one that I control. This account is incredibly important to me, and I would greatly appreciate any assistance you can provide in restoring it. Please let me know what steps I need to take or any information you require from me to proceed. Thank you so much for your help during this stressful time.Solved47Views0likes4CommentsHow to delete a Dropbox folder from the Windows file system?
I recently had to change my email address. Trying to adapt that in my dropbox account I accidentaly created me a second drop-box account. After finding out about my mistake I took a second attempt and then the email address change worked. But: Due to that prior procedure I had ended up having now TWO dropbox folders in my Windows box's home directory. After carefully figuring out which one is the correct/active folder I deleted the other unused/unwanted folder (via Window's right-click --> Delete). The folder disappeared from my home directory but turned into a zombie. I.e. it now sits in my recycle bin (still showing the dropbox icon) and seems to be undeletable, i.e. even having emptied my trash now multiple times that folder still sits in there and doesn't go away. How can one completely remove a Dropbox folder deleted from the Windows file system?Solved126Views0likes12Comments
