Here's the essence of the problem: I have DropBox Pro installed on an iPhone 5s, iPad Air, MacBook Pro and Windows desktop computer. I do NOT want to clog up my iPhone, iPad and MacBook with files from DropBox. I want to simply upload and then delete them from the mobile devices. I'd like to use automatic Camera Upload but when I delete the photos from my iPhone or iPad I do NOT want them deleted from DropBox...as has happened on numerous occasions (most recently when I exchanged a broken iPhone for a new one and then tried to copy content from one to the other and subsequently delete unwanted photos...on the iPhone, not "unwanted" from my DropBox space). So how do I do a one way sync? Keep in mind that after photos appear in the Camera Upload folder, I MOVE them to a different desired location...and when they're deleted from my iPhone, they are still deleted from the new location!Solved128KViews8likes45CommentsDropbox data space on Android
Hi everybody, Dropbox app is actually taking 3gb on my phone (Samsung S7). In dropbox online guide they suggest to free space deleting cache memory, but on my phone dropbox cache memory is only 32 mb at the moment, the apk is 160mb (more or less) while the 3 gb is dropbox user data! I suppose if I delete all user data from Samsung Maintenance software I will lose also my dropbox account settings and in the worst chance also the data i loaded from the phone and now availables for other users. If I delete single files from dropbox app, they are no more available on the account so... The question is: How to free space on the phone deleting the files only on the local phone memory and not from the cloud? (please don't answer to delete cache memory :D)Solved17KViews2likes25CommentsExport pictures to instagram
Hi! I'm trying to export videos from Dropbox to Instagram. I choose the "open with" option and navigate to instagram, but when I click on it nothing happens. I don't get an error message and am not navigated to a new page. Is this because Dropbox is trying to export my video onto my phone and there isn't enough space for it to do so? If so, it would be good to at least see an error message explaining that this is what has happened. Could you advise me on how to upload videos to Instagram from dropbox. Surely the whole point of dropbox is to store things on your phone that your phone itself does not have the room for? Thanks!Solved14KViews1like7CommentsMake folder available offline on iOS
I have been waiting very patiently for the ability to make folders available offline in the iOS app. It seems Android users have this function already. It has been asked for so many times going back years and still no sign on iOS. Then I saw this post: https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Space/Maximum-Size-for-an-offline-folder-on-iOS/m-p/197778 I have the latest Dropbox app on my Ipad Pro. I have Dropbox Pro, but I don't have this feature in my app. I am actually considering switching to another Cloud storage because of the lack of Offline folders, but am now confused whether it is available or not?Solved13KViews2likes18CommentsPhoto backup on iPhone isn’t working
I’ve been using Dropbox to backup my iPhone and noticed recently it’s been really slow. Last night I went to back it up again but it just said it was starting photo backup, but it still hasn’t found any photos or videos. I’ve restarted the app, my phone and turned off photo backup and left it before trying again, I’ve tried airplane mode with WiFi. I’ve tried using my data, but it’s not finding anything. Or doing anything. I’ve been using Dropbox alongside iCloud and haven’t had any problems until this. I’ve used about 6% of the 2tb storage I’ve got. Any help on this? Thanks9.5KViews0likes75CommentsI want to selectively sync my folders on my iPhone like I do on my desktop to save space on my phone
The selective sync feature on the desktop is great. But I cannot figure out how to do the same on my phone. I don't want all of my dropbox to sync to my phone, only some. Is this possible?Solved8.4KViews1like6CommentsRemoving Offline files from mobile device
I have all of a sudden run out of space on my Samsung Android phone. My cache shows as empty. My next thought is to remove some of the files I have downloaded for Offline viewing. 1. Do I have to do this one-by-one each file in the folder? 2. When I select the dropdown next to a file, there is a Delete option. When I click that, it says "Are you sure you want to remove this file from your Dropbox?". I do not want to delete it from the Dropbox that is out there on the internet and is on my desktop. I assume that answer is "no". I see the Available offline toggle. Do I have to toggle them one-by-one, each of the 200 or so files? When I did some, I saw that the amount of cache increased. When I cleared it, the total amount of space on the phone did not decrease any. How do I realize the free space from not having those files available Offline? Thanks.Solved7.6KViews1like4CommentsCan I limit what is synced to my iPhone? Dropbox is clogging up space on my phone.
I use the Dropbox App on my iPhone. But have had to delete it as it was taking up most of the storage on the phone and most of that was photos (over 1600). But I really need to see documents and only some photos like recent ones taken. I don't need to see everything all the time. Is there any way to selectively sync only certain folders with my phone? I can only see help on selectively syncing Dropbox to a PC.Solved7KViews0likes7CommentsDropbox app fills up entirely the local iPhone storage
Hello, I have aDropbox Plus account which I share between my Mac, my Android Galaxy S21 and my wife iPhone SE. I am currently using only 22,1% of the 2 TB on my account. On her iPhone, Dropbox is set-up to upload all her pictures to Dropbox but it keeps filling up the local storage. The iPhone runs IOS 16.2 with Dropbox 310.3. It has 64GB storage. 36 GB are used locally for pictures. The goal is to sync all these pictures to Dropbox in order to reclaim the local space. I tried several times and each time Dropbox ends-up filling up the iPhone local storage with 6.2 GB data! How is it possible? I have read similar threads in this forum and applied the suggested corrective actions without success namely: -clear Dropbox cache -remove Dropbox app -restart iPhone -re-install Dropbox app There is no backup, no offline files set-up on the iPhone. Do you have any suggestion? Currently the presence of the Dropbox app on the iPhone makes the iPhone totally unusable since it runs out of space. It is a quite serious issue! Any suggestion? Last Wednesday: 1. In iOS app, selected Upgrade Account and selected “$9.99 a month.” 2. App charged me $99.99. 3. Dropbox account stayed at Basic. Since Friday, been trying to find out what I can do to get my account set to Plus. But Dropbox claims it’s Apple’s issueand Apple’s troubleshooting says that I have to contact Dropbox. I have tickets open with both Apple and Dropbox, but neither have been answered. In the meantime, I have run out of space for a client project. Any tips for how I can get the upgrade I paid for?Solved5.1KViews0likes11Comments
