37 TopicsDropbox app fills up entirely the local iPhone storage
Hello, I have aDropbox Plus account which I share between my Mac, my Android Galaxy S21 and my wife iPhone SE. I am currently using only 22,1% of the 2 TB on my account. On her iPhone, Dropbox is set-up to upload all her pictures to Dropbox but it keeps filling up the local storage. The iPhone runs IOS 16.2 with Dropbox 310.3. It has 64GB storage. 36 GB are used locally for pictures. The goal is to sync all these pictures to Dropbox in order to reclaim the local space. I tried several times and each time Dropbox ends-up filling up the iPhone local storage with 6.2 GB data! How is it possible? I have read similar threads in this forum and applied the suggested corrective actions without success namely: -clear Dropbox cache -remove Dropbox app -restart iPhone -re-install Dropbox app There is no backup, no offline files set-up on the iPhone. Do you have any suggestion? Currently the presence of the Dropbox app on the iPhone makes the iPhone totally unusable since it runs out of space. It is a quite serious issue! Any suggestion? This might be the wrong category, but it was the closest I could find that seemed to fit. My iPad is set to store files online only. I tried to research this as much as I could before coming here and starting this thread, but I'm no expert, so maybe I'm missing something obvious? When I check the app, it says I have zero files accessible offline, which is how it should be, and yet when I check my apps, it says the dropbox is taking up a whopping 158gb of space on my 1tb hard drive. It's the biggest storage hog by more than triple the next largest app (Clip Studio Paint - I'm an artist and I have lots of brushes, textures, etc... loaded into the app). I have cleared the cache on Dropbox a couple of times and that hasn't made much of any difference. I have restarted my iPad as well and that hasn't made any difference either. I back up all my work files to dropbox more or less daily, plus reference material and any app specific stuff because I use Clip Studio on my Mac Pro as well, so dropbox is how I get things back and forth (I HATE mac's sync system - you couldn't pay me enough to use it, or time machine). I don't have the dropbox desktop app on my Mac pro either - I just use the internet to upload files (my Mac pro is too old to support the desktop app). Anyway, from everything I can tell, there should be no reason dropbox is taking up so much space. I would greatly appreciate someone helping me with what it seems I am obviously missing. My iPad pro is a 3rd generation 12.9 inch version and it's running iOS 17.6.1. As I mentioned before, it has a 1tb drive and I don't remember how much ram or what the processor chip is. Sorry.Solved640Views0likes2CommentsThe files I upload to my mobile app take a lot of space from my iPhone 15.
I have an iPhone 15 pro max. I use Dropbox to back up from my computer and iPhone. Here’s the problem. In uploading pictures and videos from the iPhone to Dropbox via the app. Then I delete the videos from my phone. I’m doing this to increase memory in my iPhone. The problem is that the Dropbox app now has 88gb in the iPhone. If it’s in the cloud on Dropbox, why is it taking up storage space on the app? Can this be fixed?242Views0likes1CommentData Loss After PC Factory Reset
Hello - Recently, I reset my computer to factory settings due to a suspicion of hacking. As a result, I had to format my drives, including one that was linked to Dropbox. Before the reset, I checked and believed that the files on this drive had been backed up to Dropbox. However, upon looking today, it appears I have lost a significant amount of critical content; only one file remains in the folder. I am reaching out to see if there is any possibility for Dropbox to recover these files. I would greatly appreciate any assistance or guidance, as these files are of significant importance to me.350Views0likes7CommentsiPhone storage and dropbox
Hi! Hoping you can help. I have the Dropbox app on my phone and I am in the process of moving my videos from my camera roll to Dropbox. I am doing this purely to try and free up space on my phone. However my question is - does this actually free up space on my phone or does it just basically store them in a different place as my videos have disappeared from my camera roll and are now in dropbox so I’m thinking maybe I’m not actually freeing up any space? Please if someone could help answer my question that would be v helpful!3KViews0likes6CommentsMy mobile app shows content that I can't see on the website on my laptop.
Hello, Apologies in advance for asking a basic question but why can I see folders on my mobile app (as well as it showing I have used 800GB of storage), but when I log into the website on my laptop it says I can't see any folders and it says I have used 0GB of storage? Hi all! My iPhone is out of storage and so I’m currently trying to move my pictures into Dropbox. However, I’m getting messages saying my phone has no storage (and therefore, it would seem, can’t perform the operation).. Does that sound right? If so, I’m in a bit of a conundrum, because I can’t delete the photos to free storage on my phone until they’re on Dropbox! Grateful for any input. Thanks!235Views0likes1CommentDropbox takes up 90GB space on my iPhone.
