Preventing folders from being moved
Hello fellow Dropbox users.. I am the team admin on a business account. We have implemented a folder structure across our team. Includes folders and sub-folders. We would now like to "lock" our new folder struture, while still allowing team members to accessall folders and sub-folders. We need team members to be able to upload, download, edit and save files within the folders and sub-folders. Is this possible? Our main goal is to prevent team members from accidiently moving or dragging folders or sub-folders into the wrong place. Hi Dropbox and forum, There seems to be no way of removing all access of an external user to files/folders shared to him. Lets say you have a team folder with "Projects", and in this folder you have hundreds of subfolders shared with different external collaborators. One user has been invited to 70 of the subfolders, and you need to remove his access to everything. As far as i see, there is no other way to remove this user but to go through every one of the 70 folders and manually remove him. Way to stop dropbox disallow people from requesting to join our team?
Is there a way to not give people the option to join our team? Every time I send a file to someone outside of my dropbox team (which is almost daily) they must get some kind of additional email telling them they can request to join our team, because I usually get a follow up email with random people who got the file asking to be part of my company's team. Hide folders from users who don't have permission
Is it possible to hide a folder entirely from users who don't have a permission to open the folder? At the moment, users who are not member of certain groups or are not invited to open a folder are not able to open the folder and see its contents. But there are some folders, most users (except our management) shouldn't even know about their existance so I would like to hide the folders in the directory view.Solved13KViews8likes12Comments
Inability to Activate Smart Sync (remote management software & third party pointing device drivers).
Any luck? I have a machine that I just updated to 10.13.4 and clicking "Allow" still does nothing for enabling the smart sync extension. EDIT: I was trying to do this via VNC to a mac that did not have a display, keyboard, or mouse attached. Once I attached those items, I was able to click the "Allow" button. Apparently you cannot click that button from a VNC session. Lesson learned.Solved11KViews5likes41Comments
What's the best way to back up the Dropbox folder if I don't have enough space to sync all files?
Hello, I'm using Dropbox Business with Smart Sync. I would like to brckup my entire dropbox to an external hardware (alternative ideas welcome). According to Dropbox support I would have to: move my dropbox folder to the external hard drive change smart sync settings to all local move my dropbox folder back to the computer hard drive adjust all smart sync settings According to support there is no way to just download the entire dropbox to an external hard drive. Additionally "there's a small—but real—chance that the app will start deleting files". So that is obviously not an option. Is there a way to print out the whole hierachy of our company dropbox, including all subfolders and possibly to the document level? Our company is doing a major overhaul of our dropbox structure and I need to find out who is using which folders, when the last time they have been used, and to be able to download a list all of the folders and subfolderswithin their hiearchy to an excel spreadsheet.
