Onthe last few startups of my Windows 7 desktop, the EventViewer has shown the following error and subsequent information logs as the error is corrected by Windows: Record Number: X 95916 Log Type: Application Event Type: Error Source: DbxSvc Category: 3 Event ID: 320 Failed to connect to the driver: (-2147024894) The system cannot find the file specified. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Record Number: 95931 Log Type: Application Event Type: Information Source: ESENT Category: 3 Event ID: 300 Windows (2500) Windows: The database engine is initiating recovery steps. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Record Number: 95932 Log Type: Application Event Type: Information Source: ESENT Category: 3 Event ID: 301 Windows (2500) Windows: The database engine has begun replaying logfile C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications\Windows\MSS.log. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Record Number: 95933 Log Type: Application Event Type: Information Source: ESENT Category: 3 Event ID: 302 Windows (2500) Windows: The database engine has successfully completed recovery steps. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Record Number: i 95915 Log Type: Application Event Type: Information Source: DbxSvc Category: 2 Event ID: 258 Pipe server thread started. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It seems as if the Dropbox service may be trying to start too soon as, after the initial error, Windows seems to be able to correct the problem and everything works correctly. This is a very recent happening and I cannot relate the change to any system changes. Is there anything I can do to stop the error - if I didn't regularly check the Event Viewer I would be none the wiser so perhaps I'm being too sensitive. Thanks.Solved76KViews0likes254CommentsWhy can't I open Microsoft files on my mobile device?
I updated my iPad Pro & now I can't open Dropbox files in Microsoft apps. I can see Dropbox, and I can open in other apps (Adobe, for instance), but Word, Excel, etc. tell me that the server is gone or the files are no longer on the server. But they are where they belong, and I can open them on other devices.Solved71KViews7likes173CommentsI can't open Word/Excel files on iPad/iPhone
Hi. I've searched the forum/web and can't seem to find any answer to this problem. Until a couple of weeks ago I could edit in all Office-files in Dropbox via both iPad and iPhone. Then earlier this week I suddenly can't do this, and I'm asked to log-in with a 365 subscription. Has there been a change I haven'r been awere of, and do I now have to have an active 365 subscription? I use Dropbox basic, and the files are .docx and .xlsx. Thank you for your time. Using an iPhone 5C running iOS 9.1 and Dropbox 4.0.4. The iOS Dropbox app itself is only 55.8 MB in size, however my iPhone is reporting that Dropbox is using a total of 300+ MB in Documents and Data. I have zero files marked as "Offline" within the Dropbox app, so the app should not be storing any Documents or Data locally on my iPhone. I realize the Documents and Data referenced are most likely the result of recent files being cached by the app, but if this is the case, is there any way to manually clear that cache? Or set a limit of cache size? Currently, uninstalling and reinstalling the app is the only solution I've found, which is far from what I'd consider a "solution". I have to uninstall the app, reinstall it, sign in, wait for 2-factor auth code to enter, set up my Passcode again, set up the Camera Upload again...just a horrible overall process just to clear out the cache. There are other apps which allow you to either set a cache size, or some that include an option to manually clear the cache. Either one of these options would be better than nothing at all.Solved52KViews17likes107CommentsUnable to 'Save to Files' on iOS
Hey Dropbox Hive Mind, . I've thus far been unsuccessfulat trying to save a file to Dropbox on my iPhone. For example, when looking at a PDF (email attachment or a PDF in the iOS Notes App) or a photograph in Photos, I click the share button, navigate to "Save to Files" on the bottom row of icons, and then get to the following screen (see below) where Dropbox is greyed out. How do I fix this and get Dropbox to NOT be greyed out so that I can save files to Dropbox? Thanks for the help!Solved36KViews4likes2CommentsDropbox and Files App Issues (iOS 11)
Hello I am having issues using Dropbox with the Files App. When trying to attach a file to an email I can browse and select the file but when I select the file the round 'downloading' icon appears but it never completes. The square 'cancel' icon at the centre of the circle is unresponsive. When browsing Dropbox within the Files App some (but not all) folders display "To view the items in this folder, you need to authenticate". When I click the button to authenticate the screen briefly flickers but nothing happens. I cannot browse Dropbox within Files unless I disable my Dropbox pass-code/touch ID. A few days ago this was working. The search feature within Files does not return any of the Dropbox files. I have tried the following steps to remedy the situation: Cleared Dropbox cache. Deleted the Dropbox App and then restored it to the latest version (64.3) Rebooted my iPhone 7. Tried another device (iPad Mini 2). None of these actions have made any difference. I would appreciate any help that you can offer. Thank you.Solved27KViews0likes45CommentsiOS 11 Files App iPad - waiting to download
Using the Files App on iOS 11 - on my 11.2 iPhone 7 Plus everything works perfectly. From the Files App I see thumbnail representation of Dropbox files, I tap the file (e.g. a PDF) and it downloads and opens. On my 9.7 iPad Pro also running 11.2 - same Dropbox account - same files - no thumbnails, and every file tap results in “Waiting to download” and a spinning circle forever. Cleared cache, no Dropbox pin, turned off 2FA, deleted and reinstalled both Dropbox and Files App and same result. Contacted Dropbox Support and got boilerplate “use our app instead of Apple’s” mindless response. Apple support says it is a Dropbox issue. I just want it to work like it does on the phone. Any suggestions?Solved26KViews1like31Comments
