You might see that the Dropbox Community team have been busy working on some major updates to the Community itself! So, here is some info on what’s changed, what’s staying the same and what you can expect from the Dropbox Community overall.

220 TopicsUnzip/zip a file inside Dropbox
Uploading the zipped file to dropbox and unzipping it inside would save a lot of time and traffic for users. Some of the web services already exist for that (like this one http://www.quora.com/Is-there-a-way-to-decompress-a-zip-file-inside-Dropbox), but as they use their own server capacities, they cost money. Unzipping inside the dropbox may be an additional feature inside the dropbox itself. I would even pay for that a little xtra.138KViews152likes44CommentsRequest for Dark Mode for the Website and the Desktop (including Paper)
I nearly go blind every time I open dropbox, how can you guys have been around so long yet you still don't have a simple toggle to change the CSS style to a darker color to not blind your users? Seriously. Can we please get a night mode?93KViews306likes201CommentsEdit text file in browser window
It would be super handy to edit txt files in the preview window that opens when you click a document in your dropbox in the browser. So I can quickly store some text without having the pain of downloading - editing-uploading Just an idea :)72KViews142likes68CommentsAllow us to show/hide sidebar items on the website
I love new features, don't get me wrong, but not at the cost of them cluttering up the UI with features I rarely (or never) use. The sidebar on the web keeps growing with no way to tame it. How about implementing a Gmail-style menu system where you can bury menu items you don't want to see, but can still access if need-be...this way the UI can be more tuned to how an individual uses it?53KViews135likes65CommentsI wish Dropbox could cast image and Pictures to Chrome Cast
Dropbox Cast image and Pictures to Chrome Cast - feature request I am super happy with my Dropbox license which is widely used on Android, iPad, and Windows 10 systems. However, I miss one feature: The ability to cast directly from Dropbox on Android and iOS systems. I'm aware that you can set up your Android device to mirror the screen of a Chrome Cast, but it's cumbersome, and not always very reliable. Often the connection is lost and you have to set up the Mirror again. If you are using an IOS device, mirroring of the screen is not possible. I realize that there are work around solutions that can be used, for example to use a browser and cast it, but it's not super functional. My wish, and probably millions of other Dropbox users, is therefore: Can we get: Chrome Cast - integrated directly into the Dropbox App - for Android and iOS devices ? ? ? It will certainly be a feature that will be widely used.43KViews62likes36CommentsView org-mode / Orgzly files as text
Requesting a feature update that would allow org-mode /Orgzly files with the extension ".org" to be viewed as text files in Dropbox. Orgzly for Android allows for creation and editing of org-mode files in Android, and syncing with Dropbox. Being able to view the files would useful, without having to open them in a text editor (e.g. Emacs).38KViews148likes46CommentsDropbox online - number of subfolders and files in a folder, like file explorer shows
Hi, I've been using Dropbox for quite awhile but am new to the Community discussions. I've searched the Community for an answer to my question, but have not found one that answers the full issue. I'd like to have information in my online Dropbox that shows for any folder (1) the count of the number of subfolders under it and (2) the total number of files under that main folder including all files in the subfolders. This is the same information given by File Explorer for folders on the computer. It would help considerably as I'm uploading a lot of data to Dropbox, and I want to compare to make certain everything gets uploaded. If this is not available currently, is there a feature request for it? Thank you so much.28KViews42likes26CommentsSearch by file name instead of full-text search
Dropbox 'full-text search' is a powerful and convenient feature. However, as I add more and more files to Dropbox, the 'full-text search' feature is becoming more of a hindrance, especially when I don't want to do a 'deep' search. For instance, I need to find a file with the name 'Apple' on its name. However, the 'full-text search' returns a huge list of files containing the word 'Apple', and the file I need is buried amongst them. I request the Dropbox team to make the 'full-text search' an optional feature. That is, for a casual search, Dropbox should search only the file names. If I want a 'deeper' search, I should be able to select/tick 'full-text search' in the next step. Thanks!26KViews39likes29CommentsDark Mode for Dropbox on Web
Hello Everybody! I have created this thread to provide updates on Dark Mode for Dropbox on Web. We are closing off the longer thread for general Dark Mode requests so that we can provide our community with updates for specific products, and so that requests don't get lost. At the time of posting, our team is looking into Dark Mode for Web, but cannot provide a time frame for implementation. You can vote on this post and comment here to show your support. I will update the status of this idea when we know more! Regards, Ben26KViews48likes31Comments
