My files on my laptop show up as unreadable

Basically, I could see my file. But every time I clicked my file. For example, if I click the pdf file, it shows up unreadable. Chrome said
The webpage at file:///C:/Users/XXXX/Dropbox/CS1/HW4/hw04.pdf might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

I could not access to any one of my file.  \

And I login to my dropbox account. I could not see any of the files. But on my laptop, I could see the file but cannot access them

    Is Dropbox running on your machine? If the files are set to online only they need to have Dropbox running and connected to the internet to download when you try and access them. 

    Have a look near the clock to see if you can find the icon. If it is mouse over it and see what it says.
