I use a Basic version of Dropbox. The Quick Actions menu works on my MacBook Pro (2023) running Sonoma 14.7.1 but not on my other MacBook Pro (late 2023) running Sequoia 15.1. Share and Copy Dropbox link do nothing upon right clicks. I appreciate any help in solving this problem.
Thank you for the quick reply. File sync is working well. My desktop is v211.4.6008. Nine of the items under Quick Actions only Transfer a file... works. I have the same version of Dropbox desktop on my other MacBook Pro, and Copy Dropbox link works just fine. I assume my Dropbox account is good.
Having the same problem. I can go to the website and copy a link but there's nothing in the contextual menu at all. Reinstalling did not change anything.
Chris P.23, can you clarify your Dropbox app’s syncing status and app version, as a first step?
My issue resolved itself somehow. Everything working as expected. Thank you.
App version is showing 213.4.4597. Syncing is fine across two separate Macs running Sequoia v. 15.1.1, an iPhone 15 Pro Max and an iPad Pro running the latest OS. There is simply no drop-down "copy dropbox" contextual menu link as before. I can copy them from the website fine but I used that context menu quite a bit prior.
I have the same app version, and my MacBook Pro runs the same macOS. I still have nine items under the Quick Actions menu, including "Copy Dropbox link," but only "Share..." and "Make online-only" work. I talked with an Apple senior advisor. After observing how the items under Quick Actions worked through a screen-sharing app, he said it was probably a Dropbox app bug. The same problem exists when the Macbook Pro is in Safe mode.
Hey Chris P.23 & BasicUser, thanks for letting me know more!
Have you tried uninstalling, and then re-installing the app since you first noticed that?
Can you also try to follow the steps I provided in this thread, and let me know if this helps?
I have not tried re-installing yet. I'm hesitant to do that as I don't want to have anything move or reset preferences. Does the uninstall/reinstall process screw anything up? Is there any risk in just running the installer again, or maybe wait for a newer version?
I have tried re-installing, even using sudo commands to clean everything out. It took time, but the problem remains. So, I'm waiting for a newer version.
Hey Chris P.23, uninstalling the app simply removes the program from your device, but shouldn't mess with permissions or your content in any way.
Also BasicUser, can you send me a screenshot of what it looks like on your end, in order for me to have a visual too?
The reply box doesn't allow me to attach a screenshot this time.
Dropbox used to be very intuitive. No longer. I've been using it for many years (paid user) but am about ready to quit and just move everything to iCloud. I have videos to share that are far too big to copy and email. I think Dropbox has tried to add too many features that have screwed the entire thing up. I hate it but have been too lazy to move everything. Copy link is an essential feature. If it is not working easily for everyone, than they have dropped the ball. Nobody should have to spend hours trying to fix it. Support stinks. You should be able to call.
