I get the message that my files might contain phishing content
I am trying to share a file and get the message "We’ve interrupted your sharing activity because your files might contain phishing content"
Relevant Facts:
1) File does not contain phishing content.
2) I haven't used dropbox for about a year, so I'm not over any limits.
3) File is legal content, legally obtained.
4) File is 22 MB.
No customer support except for paid subscriptions.
So I guess this is why I don't use dropbox.....

Hi Yazan Nusaibah, and thanks for posting here.
It sounds like you’re facing an issue with banned links (please check this Help Center article).
Can we log a ticket for you and investigate further?
Let me know.

I keep getting this message when trying to create a link to share my files. We’ve interrupted your sharing activity because your files might contain phishing content.
These are the same type of files i have always uploaded to create links to share and never had an issue until now.
Of course can not contact support either since i have the basic plan.

Hey Katie Applebee, sorry to hear about this issue.
It sounds like your ability to create links has been disabled.
Can we send you an email, so we can take a closer look into this for you?
Thanks.

Hi Hannah,
Yes, please.

Whenever i try to share a file i get the message "Can't share file. We’ve interrupted your sharing activity because your files might contain phishing content."
All files shared are trusted PDFs.
If anyone tries to open the link to the files they also get an error message that says "That didn't work for some reason. If it's a fluke, it might work to refresh the page. You can also ask us for help."

You need to contact support at www.dropbox.com/support and ask for the block on your account to be removed.

We have been suddenly getting this message when trying to share various folders in our Dropbox.
"Can't Share file. We've interrupted your sharing activity because your files might contain phishing content."
We have waited 24+ hours to see if this resolves and it is not. and we have the need to share files asap.
Since there is literally no way to talk to or email anyone at Dropbox, what are our next steps?
Thank you,
Karen

Welcome aboard the Community, oharaeservice.
Did you receive any emails from Dropbox about the ban? Also, is this the first time you’re having this issue?
Let me know, and we’ll take it from there.
- oharaeserviceExplorer | Level 3
Hi Nancy,
We have received no emails from Dropbox about the ban. The account affected is [removed per the Community's Guidelines] and this is the first time we have ever had this issue, and the account has been active for about 10 years.
It is causing great frustration as it is depended upon for sharing large files, so assistance at your earliest convenience would be most appreciated.
thank you,
Karen

Hello,
Several hours ago I have generated a new link for one of my uploaded files, everything went smooth after I documented myself on the new links structure, however shortly after that I've tried accessing the shared links and I've got nothing but a 404 error. The member area is not really helpful at all in this case because clicking Copy Link on any of my current files gives me the download link as usual, however as soon as I tested uploading a .gif image and generate its download link I got the following error: Can’t share file We’ve interrupted your sharing activity because you tried to share a file that may contain malware. Check your email for instructions on how to resolve this.
That's basically the reason all of my current shared links result in a 404 page error. I have received no email about this whatsoever and all the files have been uploaded several years ago, all of them are definitely clean, open source and not containing any malware whatsoever. I would appreciate it if someone could take a look at my issue, wish I get some more information on what file could trigger that or at least limit the issue to that file alone and not for all my current shared links that I had to replace because of that. Again, I never had this error before today when I simply regenerated one of the links, mainly because I thought I needed to do that to get a direct preview/download.
- GSBoxHelpful | Level 5
Just an update, the error seems to be gone now, the same way it popped up initially and both the old and new structure links work. Hopefully these false-positive random errors won't be an issue anymore.

A couple of my users get 404 errors when trying to open documents that are shared to them. Likewise, at least one of those users, when trying to share documents, gets a message saying "We’ve interrupted your sharing activity because your files might contain phishing content." -- this happens even on a completely empty folder.
If the user that gets the 404 error tries to open a share link in an incognito/private mode browser, the document opens (but since they're not logged in, they can't edit it, which is critical. This happens across multiple browsers, just for certain of my users.
Please advise.- MarkSuper User II
It sounds like your sharing has been disabled - I'd suggest contacting support at www.dropbox.com/support and ask for help

Good call - done. Thanks!

As of a week or two ago, I cannot access Dropbox Paper files to edit them when logged in, they all 404. I've tried in both Chrome and Safari. When logged out, I am able to View Dropbox Paper files that allow View by link, but after logging in they 404 when I try to access them.

Hi there shiibainu - thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Out of curiosity, are you able to share files and Paper docs normally or are you also getting an error?
I'm only asking because if your sharing activity has been banned, it would also affect your access to Dropbox Paper.
Let me know more and we'll take it from there.
- shiibainuNew member | Level 2
Thanks Walter, indeed if I try to share a paper directly w/ another email address I see this error:
"We’ve interrupted your sharing activity because your files might contain phishing content."
How can I identify what file(s) on my account are suspected of phishing?
- pixiuplHelpful | Level 7
What the hell? Ive tried to share EMPTY folder (created from within UI) just to see if sharing works and was also hit with this error. What the f* is wrong with DB? There are more features that are not working, than features that actually works as intended.
Not to mention that webUI is just ugly!

rivera11, please check your email address and reply back to me, when you can.
pixiupl, is this regarding the Dropbox account from which you’re contacting us here or for a different account? If it’s for the one linked to this email address, I can log a ticket for you and look into this further.

Hi Nancy,
I'd like to follow up this case. I've sent response via email. Can you please assist?

I've been sharing files for years and never had any problems. Now all of the sudden the last month or two whenever I try to create a link and share it it gives me an error notice that says X Can't share file - We've interrupted your sharing activity because your files might contain phishing content.
These files are the same files I've been sharing for the last 2 + years. Nothing has changed yet I can't share them anymore. Other people inside my organization can create and send a link for the same files but I'm unable to. We can't find any reason for this on the back yet. I've sent an e-mail to Dropbox Support but until then I wasn't sure if anyone else knew why this was happening and how to fix it. It's becoming increasingly frustrating to say the least.
Thanks!

Hello jgmason nice to see Im not the only one experiencing this. In my case it has gotten so bad Ive ended my subscription with DropBox (after 10+) years! If you browse this forum category you will see that there are many users impacted by this.

Hey jackdavid09, thanks for your reply on this thread.
Are you having this issue with links you created in the account you're reaching out from or a different account?
Can you send us a screenshot of the error, please?

Hello all,
I do not normally reach out to the community, but I am having a reoccurring issue where I receive an "banned member" notification. After going to the Dropbox website and attempting to share a link to the file I just created, I receive a "Can't share file. We've interrupted your sharing activity because your files might contain phishing content" notification. Typically this is resolved in a few business days after emailing Dropbox support. Due to the nature of my work, every day counts and having to wait days to get this issue resolved hinders my productivity and work. I do not have, share, or support any type of phishing content. The overwhelming majority of files I share are PDF plans for civil construction. I typically run Windows Defender antivirus scans on them and have never receiving any malware/virus threat results of any kind. I am unsure of the proprietary scanning programs used by Dropbox, but it definitely appears to be overzealous with this reoccurring issue. It would be great if Dropbox would lockdown the individual file that it is flagging instead of banning my sharing ability all together as it often is flagging older files (even though it is for no reason at all and the files do not contain anything that violates policy or phishing of any kind).
As I'm sure you can imagine, this is quite irritating. My work revolves around collaborating with other companies on civil construction plans. Dropbox has been an integral tool to do this for a long time. I need a solution for avoiding these false flags from their automated system. Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated.- MeganDropbox Staff
Hey FrequentUser, I hope you're doing well!
Sorry to hear about that. Do you have an open ticket with our Support at the moment, or would you like for me to reach out via email, in order for us to have a closer look?
Let me know more!
- FrequentUserExplorer | Level 4
Thank you for your reply, I hope you are doing well too.
I do have an open ticket with Support, ticket#23563687. I was more looking for a tip on how to avoid my files being falsely flagged for something they do not contain. Previously, support simply asks me to delete files to lift the ban. This is a "Bandaid" fix, not a solution. If someone could take a closer look to resolve the reoccurring issue, I would appreciate it.
