Only the initial video fragment is shared. What could be the problem?

The video(*.mp4) saved in Dropbox is slightly over 1 hour. However, only the initial video fragment (15 min) is shared.

It is true for both the shared file and the shared link.

What could be the problem?

  • Hey everyone!

When it comes to streaming audio and video files shared through a link, the streaming time depends on what plan the person who owns the file has and the times have been updated.

    - If the owner is a Dropbox Basic user, you can stream the first 30 minutes.
    - If the owner is a Dropbox Plus, Family, or Professional customer, you can stream the first two hours.

    - If the owner is a Dropbox Standard, Advanced, or Enterprise customer, you can stream the first four hours.

That is intended. When the owner of the file is a Dropbox Basic user, only the first 15 minutes will stream on the Dropbox website or mobile apps (60 minutes for Plus and Professional users). To view the full file, the recipient needs to save the file to their own Dropbox account, or download and played it locally on their computer.

There are limits to how long a file can be streamed from the Dropbox website or mobile app, based on the account of the file owner. If you're streaming a file from someone with a Basic account, you can stream the first 15 minutes of the file. For Plus, Family and Professional accounts that limit is increased to 60 minutes. And for Business accounts, you can stream the first 4 hours.
