Issues with Mac DB Update (v175.4.5569)
After the latest update on my Mac Intel laptop (13.4), DropBox has been horrific. -DB folders placed in the Favorites sidebar disappeared, and I can't recreate them. Drag and drop does nothing. -...

I may have fixed my problem. My previously reported partial fix, failed after a reboot (Starting...:infinity:️). So I tried the new beta v 176.3.5105. Still a perpetual start (with no reported errors).
So I signed out of DB on my laptop, uninstalled the app, and deleted all of the DropBox related files. I used this as a guide. https://cleanerone.trendmicro.com/blog/remove-dropbox-macos-or-windows/ I needed to use Terminal to delete the actual DB folder in the /Users/"name"/CloudStorage/ location. Reboot. Then installed the beta (I'd burnt too much time with v175.4.5569 already). After sign-in, DB started syncing almost immediately.
- DB folders can once again be placed in Sidebar >Favorites.
- Copying, moving, and deletion of files is now without endless "Preparing..."
Everything appears to be operating normally.🤞

Glad to hear you were able to sort this out, rdgatz.
thetiredsaint, is there any chance your Dropbox app is currently syncing close to 300k files? If yes, and it’s possible, can you please remove some big folders from your desktop via selective sync, and let me know if you see any difference?

Also, there is a cloud icon next to all of my files now. That appeared after using your update.

Hey there, Richard L.6, welcome to our Community!
Would you be able to clarify the version of the Dropbox app that you're using on your end, along with any problems that you came across? When you say that they're not running fine, what do you mean?
Feel free to let me know of any details, so I can get the full idea as to what's happening. As for the cloud icons, do you refer to these ones, by any chance?
Keep me posted!

I'm using the latest update to Dropbox, from a few days ago. It is still stuck on "indexing." I've used and valued Dropbox for years, but this is a major problem, one that is shared by others. I also shared the following information with Vicky at Dropbox via text support: After the latest Update on my desktop Mac, indexing lasts forever. Yesterday I let the indexing go overnight. But it hung up on five files that continued to index and never completed. Now when I reboot my computer, the endless indexing begins again. My two Macbooks which I did not update seem to be running fine with Dropbox.
The iMac info is this: 3.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 macOS 13.4 (22F66)
Memory: 16 GB 2400 MHz DDR4
Also, I notice the icon in front of every file on my iMac, but not on the files of the Macbook Pro and Macbook that I sync with the iMac. I’d be disturbed if the cloud icon means that I can only open them if I’m connected to the Internet. (The cloud icons were never visible on my iMac prior to the Dropbox update.) I understand that I can change all those icons to make them available offline. I have thousands of files. That would be a deal breaker. Is there a way to batch change them? I'm hoping you have another update that will fix all of this. As is, I can't use the iMac.

Nancy , my Dropbox easily has more than 300k files in it.
Where I am now is that I completely reinstalled Dropbox and it set me up the old way, with the Dropbox in ~/Dropbox. It is working now but encouraging me to convert to the new way but I am really nervous to do so given that last time it made my computer basically unusable.

How did you remove the updated (as of last week, I think) version of dropbox, and how did you find the previous update and install it? Thanks for any help.

Saint: How did you remove the updated (as of last week, I think) version of dropbox, and how did you find the previous update and install it? Thanks for any help.

I followed the "advanced uninstallation" directions you can find here, and I didn't install an older version, I just reinstalled the latest one.
