Popup window: “Dropbox.app” would like to access data from other apps.
I have gotten a popup window several times recently on my MacBook Pro that says: “Dropbox.app” would like to access data from other apps.
Why am I getting this popup and should I say yes?

We've applied another fix here (many thanks to @WileECoyote!), which went out in v199 stable (and also v200 beta).
Again, if you update and you're still seeing this issue - please reply here!

I'm running Dropbox v204.4.5420 on Mac OS Sonoma 14.5. The error continues ...
How do we adjust Preferences or System Settings to get rid of this error?

Can you try to give Dropbox full disk access, to see if it helps?

Hi Hanna, thanks for your quick reply! Dropbox doesn't need Full Disk Access. Only Disk Utility, Terminal, and SMBD gets that on my system. Dropbox file system access is limited to its own folder, and I don't enable "Backup" or external drive access features. And Apple no longer permits Photos syncing. There's no file that Dropbox would need to access that's not in it's own folder. Can you explain why this very dangerous setting would be used? Thanks, -- Miller

Thanks Nancy, I've dismissed the dialog box and it has not returned. It may return in the future, unless you believe this has been resolved. Given the high-privilege nature of Full Disk Access, I've left that setting disabled. It is not at present a concern. I'll reply again if the issue returns.
