Smart Sync and Quick Preview on Mac
Smart Sync causes my quick preview function (spacebar) to not function properly on my Mac. I can't preview thumbnails, or quick preview any videos or photos. Any ideas why this happens?

Likely because you're trying to preview a file that doesn't exist on your computer.
When you set a file to Online Only, the only thing that's left of that file on your computer is the necessary information to make it appear in the folder. Since there's no content in the file, your OS (nor any other program) is able to preview it.
Remember, when you set a file to Online Only, the file is removed from the computer leaving behind only a marker file. In order to access that file, whether it be to open and edit it or simply preview it, the file needs to be on the computer (Smart Sync doesn't allow you to open files directly from the Dropbox servers). When you open a file, it's synced back to your local drive and then opened as normal. When you're done with the file, if you want it to be online-only again, you need to mark it as such.

im confused. My files are not appearing on my alternative computer at home. I save it to the dropbox file on my computer in the office but when i get home it is not here on this computer at home. For me, that was the point of dropbox so that i could share my files to both my locations. what am i doing wrong ? thanks Linda

lconoval This might be related to your selective sync settings if you're a business user or by just not having those files chosen to store locally on your machine (which may not have those specific files specifically loaded on your other computer). If those files show up in your browser view, not the desktop app, the odds are very good you have some folders deselected on your other machine. Might be worthwhile to start a new ticket with your machine's details rather than posting here to get the help you need— we're all having issues with Quicklook in OSX here.
Mark If anyone is able to mark a problem as a solution, that seems kind of counter productive to the whole purpose of catalogging something as "solved" on a forum, where other's are actively looking for answers. I've just put in a ticket and referenced this forum post, but I'm starting to get a little disheartened with Norah going MIA. This whole forum process just seems incredibly counterintuitive to what a support forum should do— help people find, diagnose and hopefully fix their problems.
Again, everyone, I've got (another) support request in, and if I hear anything worthwhile, I'll post back here.
