Dropbox Vault
23 TopicsVault in Windows File Explorer
I created Vault folder on dropbox.com. But it has been more than a week but I don't see Vault folder in Windows 10 File Explorer. Is there some setting necessary for the Vault folder to be visible on the Windows PC? I am using Windows 10.Solved10KViews0likes31CommentsWill the 'Dropbox for MacOS on File Provider' update become required? If so, when?
SUMMARY I'm trying to find out if/when the 'Dropbox for MacOS on File Provider'update will be required/forced for all users. The loss of desktop support for Dropbox Vault is significant enough for me that I'm already looking for alternative cloud storage solutions, so I'm hoping to find out how much time I have before I need to make my transition. Any help or direction is appreciated! Thanks all! DETAILS I currently use Dropbox Vault through macOS Finder and I was disappointed to find out today that this functionality will be removed with the new update. As far as I can tell, though, it seems we're able to continue using our current version indefinitely without much downside. I'm grateful for this, but I assume that we'll lose the option at some point, and I'm not seeing any announced timeline for when that will happen. The only official word I could find was this: "Note: While we recommend opting-in to the latest version of Dropbox for macOS on File Provider, this migration isn’t required for you to continue using Dropbox." (Dropbox Help | Expected changes with Dropbox for macOS on File Provider, emphasis added) So currently, it's recommended and not required, but there's no mention of future requirement and I wasn't able to find additional information from my searches in the Dropbox community forums or on Google. Hi All, I recently upgraded my Linux Mint 19 desktop with a fresh install of Linux Mint 20.1. Dropbox worked brilliantly on Mint 19. After the Mint upgrade and installing Dropbox via the Software Manager, my existing 100GB of files downloaded/synced from the server with no problem. However, new files or folders I create on this computer and save to the Dropbox folder are not uploading and syncing. I have tried uninstalling Dropbox, rebooting, and reinstalling (from both the repository and the Dropbox website), with the same result. I have double-checked that all folders except Vault are checked in Selective Sync under Preferences. I get no error messages. The pop-up menu from the icon in the system tray says it is syncing, and the icon has constant spinning arrows, but nothing seems to be happening. New files do not show up in Dropbox online. I have a second desktop also running Linux Mint, and Dropbox has been syncing on it with no problem for many months, both with an install of 20.1 using the same .iso image I just used on this machine, and more recently after upgrading to 20.3. I can't figure out any differences between the Mint and Dropbox installations. I just experimented creating a new file and folder on that second machine, and it uploaded via Dropbox and synced to my phone right away, but not to this problem desktop. FYI, if you can offer any troubleshooting, please consider me a linux newbie for anything beyond the GUI. I have no problem using a terminal/CLI, but instructions will have to be clear and complete. Thank you!Solved4.9KViews0likes20CommentsHow to Remove Passwords App and Vaults?
Hi, I clicked ok when Dropbox suggested I download both of these. I now realise I need neither of them, and they clutter up my Dropbox folders and cannot be moved. How to uninstall/unlink/unsubscribe please? I’ve asked Dropbox support on twitter but they have been no help, just asking me to send more and more of my private information, which sounds suspect. Thanks, Rory4.8KViews4likes13CommentsVault disappeared on iPhone app after last update
I’m running iOS 17.1 and DropBox app version 352.2.2. Since the last DropBox app update Vault is no longer accessible. I’ve been able to access it on the desktop site only. I’ve cleared the cache and signed out but Vault does not show up. Is this a known issue with this version or is it a feature going away on the app?3.2KViews0likes17CommentsDropbox removed files from my vault
I set up my Vault folder about a couple of months ago. I used it to back up about 100 - 200 GB of data from my old computer. Today I log into Vault and it had me set up a PIN again (?) and when I accessed the Vault the 100 - 200 GB of backup data I had uploaded is gone. The data was definitely there the last time I checked; and I explicitly remember uploading it because it took a couple of hours. What happened to all of my data? There was no notification that it was deleted. And why did I have to set up a PIN again?2.7KViews0likes8CommentsDropbox Vault disappears from finder list after unlocking
Recently, when I unlock my Dropbox Vault folder the folder itself disappears from the finder list after unlocking. I can still see it when I go to Dropbox online, just not on my computer's finder. When it times out, it reappears in the list. I'm using a 2017 MacBook Pro 13" running 10.15 Catalina.Solved2.3KViews0likes9Comments
