Since the recent Dropbox update, I can no longer search for files in Dropbox on my Mac. I have been using Dropbox for over 10 years and have never had this problem before. It's making life extremely difficult and making me think about moving entirely to Google Drive, although I don't really like Google that much. But at least it's free, whereas I am now paying Dropbox for a less functional service than I had previously. Does anyone know how to get this function back?Solved10KViews10likes56CommentsAdvanced search based on key phrases
I seriously need advanced searching. Dropbox used to have these features (like search exact phrase) in 2015, but somehow removed them. So how can I do advanced searching in dropbox? Like: List files with age between x and y Contain the phrase "a b c" are of type *.pdf ...Solved13KViews10likes52CommentsManage list of Tag names
I would like to modify the names of some of the tags that were created by others and would also like to delete some that are not used. I do not see a way to do that anywhere. I know how to add or remove a tag from a file or folder but want to prevent having a list as mile long of tags that shared users will be creating. Also, if you misspell a tag name and want to correct it, you cannot do that adding to the issue. Is there a way to modify the list of tag names? Is there a place where your list of tags are kept so that they can be managed ie corrected or deleted? Thanks4.4KViews8likes10CommentsIs there a fix if my Dropbox file download keeps failing?
Every time I try to download a file I get a failed status in Chrome or Safari. When I download in Firefox it fails, however Firefox allows me to "restart" the download and it begins again where it left off... so I can complete the download by repeating this as many times as necessary per file. Very annoying. For a larger file (say 4 GB) I had to do this "restart" in Firefox 4-5 times before the file reached the end of the download and completed successfully. I see this is an on-going issue for Dropbox for several years - is there an indication as to waht is causing this? Going to have to ditch the service altogether if there is no real fix. With MS teams now adding ChatGPT to their offerings, a new form of knowledge worker intelligence is emerging where the tool recommends insights from your documents stored in SharePoint / oneDrive. It seems that DB is losing an opportunity as well to allow each customer to mine their own data and have an intelligent bot as our "knowledge avatar), suggesting documents, etc that I could reuse. For example - I'm always looking for old PowerPoint slides I may have used. Or my big problem is I have inserted JPG or PDF in a final deliverable but can't find the source of that image and where I stored it. Having the means to hand the image to the BOT and tell it to go and look for the instances and the original will be a huge value add.2KViews3likes3CommentsSearching Not Working on iPadOS Files app
Hi, According to this link:https://help.dropbox.com/installs-integrations/mobile/ios-files-app I should be able to search for stuff in the current dropbox folder when accessing it from the iPadOS built-in Files app. But unfortunately this is not working for me. No matter what I search for, the result is always empty, even if there's only one file in the folder. I'm using the latest iPadOS and Dropbox app for ipad. Any idea how I can fix this? Thanks!11KViews2likes78CommentsFull-text-search not working for Plus
Hi, I'm currently trying the Plus plan in order to substitute my Evernote account. One of the needed features is the "full-text-search" and as stated in dropbox webpage: "If you're a Dropbox Plus, Professional, or Business user, you have access to a feature called full-text search, which can find files by file name, extension, or keyword within the file." However, I haven't been able to find anything on PDF or txt files (tried website and dropbox app). Is this feature really working for Plus plan? Does it work for IOS too? Thank you!Solved4KViews2likes9CommentsAccents in plain txt files incorrectly displayed
I saved some accented and umlauted characters in a plain txt file using mac with UTF-8 encoding under a dropbox folder, and when opening it using dropbox in a browser or on an ios dropbox app, the acccented characters are incorrectly displyed, i.e. ignroed or replaced with something wierd. Conversely when I saved a plain txt file with accents using ios dropbox app, the plain text file opens in Mac Textedit with incorrect accents. Is there a way to set the plain text file so that accents and umlauts are interepreted correctly on both my Mac and dropbox app/online viewing through a browser?3.2KViews2likes10CommentsError when trying to access my files on the website
Dropbox emailed flagging I was over my free limit. After logging in, I was planning to delete some photos. Unfortunately I can only briefly see the photo grid, and then the screen changes to asleeping dog on purple cushion. I've reluctantly upgraded my storage, but the error remains. Any thoughts on how I can access my account?1.8KViews1like18Comments
