I have set up a new computer. Downloaded the Dropbox desktop app, same as previous computer. I am running Office365. Now all Word documents that are stored in DP are showing corrupted. I can login to DP directly and open the document but when I try to open through my DP shortcut on file explorer. Word docs will not open directly. The solution has been to open the document from DP and then re-save it on the computer in DP. So I still have access to the docs but it's very inconvenient. Is there a solution that would allow my documents to all update at once and be available again from the file explorer shortcut?10Views0likes1CommentI can't edit my Microsoft files on the mobile app.

I am the owner of a shared excel file that is now missing. I cannot see it listed, it is not in my deleted items. I went to my events, and see that the document was edited 2 weeks ago by a colleague. When I try to open it I get the message that " the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file." Good morning, on my Dropbox from my computer I have created several files with Excel and I edit them very often. If I access from my smartphone I can only see the files but not modify them. Is there a solution? Thank you947Views0likes9CommentsI'm being asked to save a copy of my Excel file instead of the original file on mobile.
I have a spreadsheer in a shared Dropbox folder and I am the only person with editor access to it. When I open it on my desktop it saves fine, but when I open it on my mobile it tries to save a copy even though it definitley isn't open on my desktop at the tme. I don't want to save a copy. I just want to be able to make changes to the file on my mobile as well as on my desktop, and to save the file - not a copy - on either platform. Is this impossible? Hi, Am on theDropbox Business Plus trial plan and owner of a folder shared with personal Dropboxes. We use an excel spreadsheet on the web/Chrome via dropbox but after updating to this trial plan, am locked out of the excel file on the web when others are editing. I can only enter when no one else is editing but the moment they access the file mid way I am locked out again. I have cleared cache, double checked that I have not locked the file for editing nor the other users too, restarted the laptop. Everyone else seem to access it without issue. Please advise:(306Views0likes3Commentsproblem opening documents in dropbox app on laptop "word unable to read this document"
Hi there I have one dropbox account for work purposes. After working perfectly, I'm now having issues with the dropbox app on windows laptop. Error message: "word is unable to read this document. It may be corrupt. Try one or more of the following: open and reapair the file/open the file with the text recovery converter". this is affecting 90 per cent of the documents I try and access from the app. I have ensured I'm logged in to the same account (I only have one anyway), uninstalled and reinstalled the app and used selective sync for the folders I need to see in the app. following exactly the same steps on a different laptop, it all works perfectly. So, is there something about a setting on my work laptop that could be causing this? help very much appreciated! thank you1.3KViews1like7CommentsI can't open some Excel files on the Dropbox app of my 10.15.7 macOS Catalina.
I cannot open certain Excel files I have on Dropbox. It's possible this has something to do with the fact that my Mac is more than 10 years old and is no longer supported. I am running Mac OS Catalina 10.15.7 and can't update. The Excel version I am using on this Mac is 16.66.1. It also can't be updated for the same reason as above. I can open these same files on a Windows computer that is also in the family, leading me to believe the problem is directly related to my Mac and its operating system. Does anyone have any insight into this problem?600Views1like7CommentsMissing changes to a document / Maybe unsaved
Hi -- I was working on a microsoft word doc that was saving in my Dropbox desktop app and I think I may have quite Word without saving the document. When I went back to the document (ie opened it again) I noticed that all the work I had done was gone. Is there anyway to find any of this via some kind of version/edit history or is that NOT a feature on Dropbox (as it is on google docs for example) in that nothing will have been saved and I will have to redo the work?
