Deleting files does not free up space
I deleted about half of my files and then permanently deleted them in the "Deleted Files" section. It still says I'm about out of space. Is there something else I need to do?

It was my SMS backup program. All solved.

Hey Cressida Downey, thanks for taking the time to post to the Dropbox Community.
Can you take a look and send us a screenshot of what you see in the plan tab of your account settings?
Does it show what kind of files are taking up your space?

Thanks Hannah, please see screenshot attached

Thanks for the screenshot, Cressida.
It appears that it's shared files that are taking up your space.
You might want to use the steps here, to calculate the size of your folders; this should give you an idea of which ones are taking up the space.
If you want to leave a shared folder without affecting the other members, you can take a look here.
You can also check out this article on how to add some extra space to your account.
I hope this helps!
