I have a shared folder, but every file I put in seems to be locked.

I volunteer with a local hospital radio station. For one of the programmes I do, we have shared a Dropbox for at least ten years and have never had an issue.

I recently created a new shared directory but every file I put in from my computer is "locked" on the one at the studio which means I can't do anything with it; eg copy, paste, move or rename.

Why is that and how can I stop it from happening as it is currently completely usesless.

Thanks.

Hey CarlW, let's jump right into this!

Just to make sure we're on the same page: are you talking about a shared folder?

Also, how do you access the files in it? Is it through our website, or the desktop app? Feel free to let me know if you get any messages on your end, when trying to open the files.

Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!

Yes; a shared Windows Explorer folder rather than the app specifically.

      Error:

"An unexpected error is keeping you from copying the file. If you continue
to receive this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this
      problem.
Error Ox80070780: The file cannot be accessed by the system."

And a silver X on the icons of the files.

Hi CarlW, thanks for the heads up!

Based on the error you received, it sounds like this is most likely a Microsoft issue rather than a Dropbox one.

Feel free to have a look at this discussion that I came across, after doing some research on this.

As for the X icons, it sounds like you might have another cloud service running on your machine, which is causing the grey X icon to appear.

Try quitting all other cloud services completely, and let me know if the icons appear in Explorer in the Dropbox folder.
