I can not open Dropbox app on may Mac

I can not open Dropbox app on my Mac. The system is High Sierra.  I think the reason is that I had changed the user personal file, and the path of the profile or some other necessary file were also changed. The old version of my user personal file has been deleted and I also deleted the dropbox app of my Mac. Howerver, there are still existing some errors after I installed the Dropbox again and tried to open it.

Here is the error code

I have no idead about how to fix this error.  Please help me and thank a lot

  • Hey AriPai , welcome to our community. I'll provide the steps to correct this now so please bear with me for a while.

Firstly, make sure you save and quit all programs accessing files in the Dropbox folder, and then:

    1. Open your Terminal app (Located at /Applications/Utilities/Terminal)

    2. Copy and paste the following line into the Terminal and press ENTER.  Be extra careful when you copy and paste these commands (don't type it by hand), as getting it wrong could prove harmful. You'll be prompted for your computer's admin password (not your Dropbox password) after entering the first command. The password field in the terminal will remain blank as you type your password. After you type it, just press ENTER. You'll know that these instructions complete normally once the initial line of text (called prompt) comes up again:

    sudo mv ~/.dropbox ~/.Trash/dropbox.old

Once the prompt displays, the instruction completed the requested task. If the command returns an error, or does not respond after an hour, you may want to try restarting your computer and trying this step again.

You should be now be able to restart Dropbox from the Application folder. Sign in and apply any Selective Sync settings you may have had prior to this reset during the sign in process. Your account will take a few moments to reindex the files and sync any pending changes.

    I hope this helps!
