Please help! I was charged just shy of $200 on a DropBox acct that I did not know was there. Please help me cancel and get the refund
Hi joyanisa74
You need to follow https://help.dropbox.com/accounts-billing/payments-billing/refund - note that refunds are only given where legally required.
If you did not give Dropbox your card details then you need to be contacting your card issuer and reporting fraud.
it's just a joke not to inform a direct contact to solve the problems. should stop selling in Brazil. I canceled a subscription and I can't receive it. Absurd.
Ticket #16967100: Dropbox Support Chat
Thanks for posting on our forum today, Jorge Pires .
I was able to locate your ticket in our system, and from what our agent mentioned, they’ve processed a refund for your Dropbox subscription.
If you haven’t done so already, can you please get in touch with your bank? There’s a chance that your refund may still be in pending state, so they’ll be able to check this for you and make sure you receive your refunded money.
Let me know if you need help after that, though.

You'll need to contact Dropbox Support directly. Visit the Support page while you're NOT signed in to a Dropbox account, including these forums, and you'll see an option for Billing issues. It's best to use an Incognito or Private browsing session to make sure you're not signed in.
I would like to know if I cancel my subscription will I get reimbursed for the time I have paid for? I am asking because I paid for a 1 year renewal in July and have only used about 2 moths of the subscription. Can I get reimbursed for the unused 10 months?

When you cancel a subscription, all you're cancelling is the automatic renewal. You'll retain your account benefits until your next billing cycle at which time your subscription will end and your account will be downgraded back to Basic. There are no refunds.

Hi,
I can see there are multiple cases of this on the discussion board already but I am confused as when I try to Submit my ticket of complaint it just gives me an 'error' message.
I too was charged £199 for a full year's subscription even though I cancelled successfully on the 30th day. I didn't receive any prior notice about renewal and had notification for the cancellation myself in my phone so don't agree this should have gone through on my paypal.
A little bit frustrated as I understand the rules but feel I complied.
Kind regards,
Niall
You need to log a ticket with support to ask for assistance. As it is an account issue nobody is able to assist on the forums.

If you cancelled on the last day, then the transaction was likely already sent for processing. With many subscriptions and trials (not just Dropbox), you typically need to cancel by at least 24 hours prior to the end of the trial or subscription to avoid renewal.
It's a pity they don't send you any notice or outline this in t&cs. It probably is my mistake but not one I can afford.
Hi,
we just realised we have been charged for dropbox for several month now and do not remember signing up for it. We tried figuring out which account is linked to the charge but the look up account doesnt' work. How do I figure out which account is connected to the charge so that I can canel it.
Thank you.

Dropbox cannot charge you if they don't have your billing information. If you've been charged and didn't give them your billing information, then someone else has and you should be contacting your bank.
When I do that it tells me to log in.
I no longer use the drop as a significant part of my job. I got a message from dropbox saying that my credit card for payment was about expired and I didn't notice the billing date. Yet, I was charged the annual fee on 11/19, and I downgraded my account to free. In this case, can I still get the full refund as it's only three days since they posted the payment? Thank you.

You can try contacting Support, but typically Dropbox does not offer refunds.

Could the Linux users have a refund, please? I know Dropbox's other services provide a lot of value, but I do not use them. I only use(d) Dropbox to sync between my Linux desktop and laptop. I completely understand if Linux users are not a Dropbox priority, but I would like a refund if I cannot use the service I bought.
Hey Richard H.44, sorry for any inconvenience this might have caused.
You can definitely contact our support team about any billing related requests here.
Has anyone been able to secure a refund for wrongly being charged each month for a free Basic plan
Hi @TraceyW, and welcome aboard the forum!
If there are recurring charges, it means that there’s a paid subscription. If you log in to your Dropbox account and you see that you’re on a Basic plan, then it’s quite possible that there’s another paid account linked to a different email address.
Can you please clarify if the charges you keep receiving are in-app (either from Google Play or iTunes) or direct Dropbox ones?
Please let me know and we’ll check this further.
I cant see how there could be another paid account as I have only ever opened this one. I only joined in Nov 2020 as it was the only way to access pictures purchased form a photographer. This is all I have ever used Dropbox for and when I logged in can see I am on the free Basic plan and have used 1.1MB.
If you need more help you can view your support options (expected response time for an email or ticket is 24 hours), or contact us on X or Facebook.
