I accidentally joined a business account. How can I go back to my original plan?
Hey! Please help me I'm being charged for a dropbox business account. I didn't mean to have it clicked. A client shared a link to a folder. Now I'm being registered to a business account. I want my original plan to be restored which is 2tb per year only. Please help thank you!

I purchased my own Dropbox for my company's folders. We are working with another company, and they accidently invited me to join their Dropbox. I accepted the invite (not knowing this was a mistake), and was refunded my original purchase and am now on their plan it appears. I would like to be removed from theirs, and go back to my original plan with just my company.

You need to ask that the company remove you note they must not delete you.

Help! I've accepted an invitation to a colleague's Dropbox to help with her clients while she's on maternity leave. Instead of showing her main folder and sub-folders in my account, now mine has been absorbed into her account somehow – can I rewind to an hour ago to fix this? I've also received notification of a refund for my Dropbox subscription which is not at all what I wanted. Hope I'm articulating this ok... very stressed, and don't want to stress her out, please help!

Hey PD24, thanks for reaching out to us.
It sounds like you've accidentally joined a Dropbox team account.
To go back to your individual account now, the admin of the team, in this case your colleague, will need to convert your account back to an individual Basic account.
That way, the team files will be removed and you'll keep your personal files and your account.
Since you'll go back to the free version and you've received a prorated refund for your previous plan, you can simply re-upgrade from this page.
I hope this helps!

Could anyone help with this issue? I was asked to join a shared dropbox folder but it turns out it was a request to join their dropbox account. Now my account has disappeared and been cancelled and I'm inside their account.
How can I setup my account again and remove myself (and my files) from their account? I don't seem to be able to do this as I'm now a member of someone else's account.
Really appreciate anyone's help - because I'm really concerned all my files have now been compromised and are on someone else's account...

It sounds like you were invited to and joined their Business account. When doing so, you merged your account into their team account, effectively making them the owner of your account.
In order to leave the team, the team admin needs to convert your account back to an individual account. It's important that they don't just remove you from the team as doing so would delete your account. If that were to happen, the team admin only has seven days to restore your account.

HELP!!!
I was added to a team and either I didn't read correctly, or I just blew it but I ended up removing MY account when I was added to a team.
I want my old one back, has anyone been able to do that? I work with multiple clients/groups and I don't want it all under someone else's account.
How do I retrieve my account back to my "personal" when it moved with my user name/email to the team.

Hey patbeennettaz, sorry to hear about this, but not to worry, the solution is pretty simple!
The admin of the team will just need to convert your account back to an individual.
To do so, they'll need to follow the steps in this article.
I hope this helps!

I just want my account back, your solution indicates I can't be part of the team and I had asked for that rather than having two different logins to DropBox
There has to be a way to give me back my account that I have had and paid for for the last 15 years!!
Who can I talk to? I can't do "chat" now because I don't have an account. I can't use my email for my PERSONAL dropbox because it is now associated with the other one.
This is not a good way to do this.
Please, help me talk or chat with a real person!!!

As i mentioned i was shared a folder for work and I joined but now it appears all of my devices are syncing my files into that folder and if I try to login to my personal account it just says I am already logged in. I just want to restore my files to my personal account and view that folder. Please help

You weren't invited to a shared folder. You were invited to and joined their Business account. In doing so, you merged your account into their team account, effectively making them the owner of your account. If you were on a paid subscription, you would have received a prorated refund for any time remaining on your account.
If that wasn't your intent and you want to revert back to the way it was, you need to contact the team admin and ask them to convert your account back to an individual account. It's important that they don't just remove you from the team as doing so would delete your account. If that were to happen, the team admin only has seven days to restore your account.
Dropbox cannot help with this. You need to contact the team admin of the Business account.

Thank you Rich. Yes I do not want to be part of there account but be as my own account and just collaborate on the shared files. This sounds very stressful. I dont know how tech savy the team that run the account are either and whether they have time to do this. I will ask them but surely theres a way I can restore my account without the worry of them having to accidentally delete it?

Hello,
I received an invitation to access a shared folder from a client :
"Join your team on Dropbox.
Hi there,
Your invite to join XXX awaits your answer.
As a team member, you can easily collaborate and share content with the people you already work with. You’ll have your own space to organize your personal and shared files.
Accept invite"
I clicked on 'accept invite,' and I gained access to the folder.
However, shortly after, I received a notification stating that my Dropbox Family subscription has been canceled :
"Hello,
Thank you for joining XXX on Dropbox for teams.
Your previous Dropbox Family subscription has been canceled, and we have credited $X.XX to your initial payment method. This amount corresponds to the remaining value of your subscription. Please contact us if you have any questions.
"Welcome to the team!
Dropbox"
This is not my intention, and I would like to resume my subscription and revert the changes. Could you help me and guide me on the necessary steps?
Thanks,
Tom

Hey Tom Jobim, thanks for reaching out to our Community.
What you need to do in this particular case, is to be removed from the Dropbox Business team and then re-upgrade to Dropbox Family.
Basically, the admin of the Business team will need to remove you by converting your account to an individual one.
Once that's done, you can simply re-upgrade your account to Dropbox Family.

I have had my own dropbox for YEARS. I am a freelance designer. Today a client sent me an invitation to join their Dropbox team (is that the correct language?) which I stupidly said YES to. Now MY dropbox appears to be THEIR dropbox, along with all my other clients folders and info. How do I revert to my old dropbox? Or how can I fix this mess. I am livid. TYIA

Hi Lou22, sorry to hear that!
I've merged your post under a similar thread, just to keep everything at one place.
Essentially, you would need to reach out to the Team's admin, and ask them to revert you back to an individual account. Feel free to have a look into this thread.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate!

Hey HazelRevilla, sorry to hear about this.
It sounds like instead of a shared folder, you joined a Dropbox for Business teams account.
In that case, you'll need to ask your team admin to convert your account back to an individual account using these steps.
From there, once your account has been converted, you'll need to upgrade to the plan you were on as desired.
I hope this helps!
- HazelRevillaExplorer | Level 3Hi walter, unfortunately I can’t contact my client to make these changes for me. It’s my fault I accidentally clicked the other option which is to join a Dropbox business account. Is there any way I can fix this? Please let me know thank you so much!

Is there any way I can fix this? Please let me know thank you so much!If you joined their business account, then only their team admin can resolve this for you. Basically, by joining someone's business account you merged your account into theirs. When this happened you would have received a pro-rated refund for any time remaining on your subscription.
In order to leave the team, the team admin needs to convert your account back to an individual account. It's important that they don't just remove you from the team as doing so would delete your account. If that were to happen, the team admin only has seven days to restore your account. Once your account is converted you'll be back on a Basic (free) account. You can then resubscribe to get back to 2TB of space.
If what you actually mean is that you converted your own account into a Business account that you're the admin of (you mentioned being charged for a Business account above), then you can cancel your Business subscription.
