Computer Backup
19 TopicsMy account shows there are 33GB of backups, but my Backups page is empty.
Hello, My account shows that it's out of storage, I have only 180MB in regular files and a 33GB backup, but I don't see it anywhere else than in the subscription page. Nothing on the backups page. I can't delete this file to free up the space. Where can I find access to it?Solved307Views0likes4CommentsI deleted an obsolete backup, but my Dropbox space hasn't changed. What to do next?
I too have received a warning that my storage space is almost gone. Almost all the storage space was allocated to a useless backup against an unplugged device that I no longer have access to. The backup status showed unplugged, which it was, and told me to reattach the device, which I couldn't. The full backup would require more than my 2GB of storage space, so it paused. After several attempts, I was able to delete the backup. However, this did not release the storage space. All the suggested recipes for managing backup storage start with 'select the backup', which I cannot do. Any suggestions? Perhaps someone can walk me through how to take care of these questions: 1. I liked having Dropbox mirror on my desktop, but that became untenable when Dropbox would no longer let me put the desktop contents on an external drive. These days, my Mac internal drive is 500 GB, and there isn’t any room for my photos (1.4TB). Not sure how to make this work using selective sync to move the Dropbox folder to an external drive. How do I make it so the default is an external drive on my Mac? 2. Backup management also needs clearer text to explain its actions. Given I can’t use the desktop sync without an exterior drive, how do I back up an exterior drive using the WEB-based Dropbox?1.7KViews1like7CommentsCan't access my Dropbox account to delete the backup that takes up space from it
Dropbox tried to backup my computer to a free account. Needless to say I ran out of space. I found and changed the option to backup. I got a message about deleting my files. It would have been fine to delete the backup but did not want to delete my shared files on Dropbox so I stopped. Now can not even open my Dropbox account. When I click open I get a spinning wheel that goes away but no Dropbox. 1) need to get back into my account 2) need to delete the backup files Thanks.508Views0likes3Comments
