I don't know if this is the right category. Also, I tried searching here for a solution first, but the posts were all locked. I just started using Dropbox. Idon't have many files in it. Since May 10, my virus software has found Gen:Variant.Kazy 512414 in my \.dropbox.cache. The file is ~834b6cda.tmp. The only thing I added on 5/10 is a pdf file from a trusted source. Could this be the problem? This has happened on 5/10, 5/15, 5/21 and 3 times today. I read that the cache is automatically deleted every three days so it wouldn't be something that's staying in the cache. How should I deal with this because this has been a very easy and convenient way to share files between my i-things and my pc. Thanks. (also, i tried using the malware and cache as tags, but it would not allow it)Solved30KViews0likes11CommentsUbuntu system tray icon disappeared, can't access preferences
I am running the deskop app on Ubuntu 18.04 and my system tray disappeared altogether. Dropbox is still syncing -- new fils show up immediately -- but I need to update the sync location and I can't do that without the indicator icon. Is there a way to access my preferences without the indicator icon?Solved17KViews0likes4CommentsWhy Dropbox asks for a computer password upon each startup? (macOS HSierra, Mohave)
Hello! Can someont please clarify why each time Dropbox App starts it askes for my computer login and password? Why does it even NEED my computer password? See the screeenshot in attach. It's in Russian, but it tells us to entermy computer login and password "for Dropbox app to fuction properly". While it functions properly even without it! Official support told me that "Dropbox app never asks for computer password" which made me even more suspicious. Yes, I _AM_ aware of the former problem when Dropbox App just forgot to ask about "Accessibility Access". But I provided this access manually in Security preferences tab -> Accessibility an Dropbox App still asks for my computer password upon startup! Further more, if you DO provide this password - next time it will only ask for permission to "Accessibility" instead of asking password again. I wonder where Dropbox App stores my very main password! Hi all, In my Smart Sync settings, I have the default set to online-only. i.e. new files should be set to online-only. However, whenever someone adds a new folder+files to my shared folder, it selectively syncs to the folder and all files. I thought that it would show in explorer, but only in online-only mode... Thanks!Solved12KViews0likes16CommentsCan't access system tray preferences menu Windows 10
I am running DropBox desktop v 61.4.95 on Windows 10. If I left or right click the system tray Dropbox icon, I don't get any menu pop up. This means I have no way of accessing my preferences, including Sync settings. It works fine on a different Windows 10 PC that I have and it used to work on this PC but I don't know exactly when it stopped working.Solved11KViews2likes31Comments
