I can't scroll through photos anymore?

I used to be able to:

open my dropbox folder,

click on a folder with pictures,

double click a picture to have it appear full-size on my screen,

then scroll through the rest of the pictures in that folder by hitting the cursor keys.

Now, since the update, sometimes I can't scroll at all, or when I can, it will show pictures that have been moved to other folders, but not the current pictures that are in the current folder. This is a serious problem for me because I am constantly scrolling through new photos that we use for marketing.

I am running:

Edition Windows 10 Home
Version 21H2
Installed on ‎3/‎25/‎2021
OS build 19044.2364
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4190.0

HELP!

Hi there DougCutler, sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

Can you please let us know the desktop app's exact status and version as shown in your system tray at the moment? Does the issue persist with the Dropbox desktop app completely closed?

A screenshot of what you see would also help, so feel free to attach one in your reply.

    Thanks!

      Hi Walter,

      Thanks for responding.

"Can you please let us know the desktop app's exact status and version as shown in your system tray at the moment?"

If I hover the cursor over the Dropbox icon, this is what it says:

      "Dropbox 163.4.5456
      Up to date".

"Does the issue persist with the Dropbox desktop app completely closed?"
Yes, although all of my folders are in the Dropbox folder on my computer, so I am not exactly sure of what you mean by completely closed.

"A screenshot of what you see would also help, so feel free to attach one in your reply."
I am not sure what to screenshot for you that would be helpful.
      Could you be more specific?

      Thanks,
      Doug

Hi DougCutler, can you try to copy a small folder, or maybe just a couple of files to another location on your device?

When you do that, do you notice the same behavior?

Also, you mentioned that you see no difference when the app is closed, therefore it's not likely that Dropbox is causing this issue. Had that been the case, it would subside once the app was closed.

      Hi Megan,

      Thanks for trying to help.

"can you try to copy a small folder, or maybe just a couple of files to another location on your device?"

"When you do that, do you notice the same behavior?"

      No.

When I move the JPG files outside of the dropbox folder, the problem disappears, and I am able to scroll through my files normally.

It is only when the files are in the dropbox folder, or a subfolder of the dropbox folder, that the problem appears.

Also, this problem of not being able to scroll through my files seems to have begun immediately after the dropbox update.

I never experienced this problem before.

      Just to be clear:

I used to be able to:

      open my dropbox folder,

click on a folder with pictures,

double click a picture to have it appear full-size on my screen,

then scroll through the rest of the pictures in that folder by hitting the cursor keys.

Now, since the update, mostly I can't scroll at all, or when I can, it will show pictures that have been moved to other folders, or deleted, but not the current pictures that are in the current folder.

This is a serious problem for me because I am constantly scrolling through new photos that we use for marketing.

Hey Doug, sorry for jumping in.

Is it alright if we open a ticket for you, so that we can check this internally?

Let me know, and we can get things started.

Hey KeithV, sorry to see you're having this issue.

Are you also on a Windows computer? And which version?

Also, what is the Dropbox app's sync status and version, when you hover over your Dropbox icon?

Hi Hannah. I'm using a PC with Windows 10. The Dropbox version is 189.4.8427  & the sync is up to date. The issue is that when I have an image open in my Camera Uploads folder and use the forward arrow, instead of the next image in the folder appearing, images that I deleted a long time ago open up with the comment 'It appears that the file was moved or renamed'.

KeithV, you mentioned above that this happens when you use a shortcut to access your photos. Are you facing the same issue, if you open your File Explorer, and navigate to your Dropbox folder > camera uploads folder manually?

this product is sooo disappointing, basic features like scrolling through a folder just aren't there or are hard to find.  this is one of the worst functioning products i've ever encountered.  has anybody ever gotten a clear answer on how to easily scroll through pictures?
