How is this issue solved? The marked solution is just a workaround using another browser...
- KBoozNew member | Level 2This drove me crazy too. I updated the Dropbox app, signed out of Dbx, turned off my phone for a minute, turned it back on, signed into dbx and it worked. Hope this helps someone else:)
- JummeNew member | Level 2I believe this is a matter of root permissions! At least it was for me.
iPhone 11 Pro, IOS 14.2, Safari browser
What DIDNT work:
• clear browser cache
• reset DNS
• turn off add blocker
• Hard reboot phone
• turn off/on phone
• log out/in Dropbox
• reinstall Dropbox
What DID work:
• try another random PDF file from online - OR -
• Save PDF file to Adobe Reader, then from there(!) save to Dropbox
Note: I realised the files I could not save was all “personalised files” (EU Corona passport with personal ID), (list of my current insurances as online pdf file from my insurance company).
At least mine had a temporary address in the address bar named
“ https://c9-root-proxy-s3binaries-11xyqgskelu1c.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/“(...something).pdf”.
That led me to believe this error is related to temporary permissions.
Hope this info will help someone else!!

I've given up on Dropbox for various reasons and moved on . Google Drive it is..

It does NOT happen in Chrome. It appears Dropbox is not integrated with Firefox. I can use Chrome for the time being and am happy to help with any troubleshooting in Safari. Thanks for the suggestion.

Chrome is not integrated with Dropbox on the ipad as far as I can tell so the work around will not work. Furthermore, it apepars this ONLY happens with a PDF, not a simple website. So when i try to save a webpage to Dropbox it works fine but when I try to save a PDF it gives the error.
- Modoc69Explorer | Level 3Actually I found a workaround to this. When you save the file in iPhone you can either forward it to an activity which is represented with vivid color or to the activities which are displayed in grey. If you save to the Dropbox whose icon is in the grey color, it works perfectly. I suggest to deactivate the one in color to avoid you pick it up by mistake. Hope it was a clear and useful suggestion for all
of you . Have fun !- RBoyHelpful | Level 5The grey color icon for Dropbox doesn’t work. It doesn’t recognize when safari opens a PDF file instead it gives an error.
