My account keeps saying it's full - but it isn't
Hi - I have a 6.3 GB basic account with less that 1.2 GB of data in it, but I keep getting notifications saying the account is full, and it isn't syncing. I've double checked my folders and cleaned out all deleted items, but it makes no difference. I have been unable to contact any sort of support through the website, so am hoping someone might know how to fix this. Thanks.

Drop box says it is full but even after deleting a bunch of stuff it still says full I looked at my Plan- drop box list and most of it is regular data only 138mb is shared data. Is there a refresh interval I need to wait for?

If you are in a team it can take a few hours, but, the other thing to just look at is www.dropbox.com/backups.

Dropbox says there is no more space but I used 0.0%. There were no problems until 6 days ago. Nothing is shared, and no further backups are made. Only photos need to be transferred from the camera.

Have you actually checked your Backups page? Are there any backups still listed?

Nothing in it.

Hello,
I use basic dropbox, with 2.75 Gb, but for a few weeks it has been sending me alerts that the space is full or almost at the limit to upgrade. But this is not true my files did not exceed 600Mb
So delete all files, photos and shared folders and just go down to 2.5Gb
I did the verifications indicated in the chat, I don't have active Back up, but I'm still busy with my storage. (I've attached screenshots)
How can I solve this? Is there a way to reset my dropbox to 0Gb used?
Thank you for your replay.

Hi JavierAutos, do you see the option on the far right part of the screen?
If not, can you try accessing the same link, using a different browser maybe?
- harvester11New member | Level 2Solution.
1. Go to your account, look for the “Dropbox Backup”
2. Select the backup that is taking up all the space and “Delete” it
3. After deleting, uncheck for the “hide deleted backups”, look for the file that you have just deleted and “permanently delete” the backup.
This solution solved my issue. Hope it works! - markstrodeNew member | Level 2
Hello. As far as I can tell, my dropbox account storage is completely empty, yet is shows 0.88GB used. I have checked shared folders, deleted folder, etc and all show empty. Can someone help me troubleshoot this?
- NancyDropbox Staff
Hey markstrode!
Have you checked your Backups page, and there’s no backup that could be taking up space from your Dropbox account?
- markstrodeNew member | Level 2
@nancy you're a boss! There was a partially deleted backup hiding in the deleted backups folder. Forever in your debt.

My dropbox is out of space, I have deleted all the file, but it still show out of space.
so I found out that there are so many photos in my dropbox, all of them are not uploaded by me.
I even found that the picture is not taken from me. I have no idea where these photo came from.
Moreover, i can't not either download it or delete it. but all the picture can be open on the dropbox website.
can anyone tell me how to download it and delete it ? Thanks.

Hey Kenny C, thanks for reaching out to us today.
Is it possible that you have any shared folders taking up your space, or you had previously enabled our backup feature?
If you check your backups page here, what do you see?
Can you take a look at Iliana's reply here, to see if the info there is helpful?

Hi @Hannah
after deleting the backup files, the space still show out of space, not sure where the data is.

Hi, that situation is frustrating. I've had it occur frequently. Two things I have observed. First, there have sometimes been hidden shared file links I wasn't aware of that were counting as storage space. Most often the files or folder were briefly shared, and no longer needed so forgotten about and not removed from dropbox. Look for any shared folders and links and then choose "remove me" in the three dot menu by the folder or file. Then too I've gone through and dumped any uneeded docs, pics, etc. to free up space, and discovered lag time between my deleting of files and when dropbox notices it's cleaned out. Has taken anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. Seems random to me, but it did eventually catch up and correct to the right amount of storage used. Don't be dissuaded by people who comment that "dropbox algorithyms are always right about your storage space." NOT! By experience I've seen it several times with the situation you're describing. Dump the unused folders, files, docs and shared links and your storage issue should resolve. Dropbox should make it easier to get chat support, instead of relying on articles and the community.

Hello,
I am using 0 GB of my 2 GB account. I have nothing yet it is full. Someone shared something that is exactly 2 GB with me, but I cannot open it. How does this make sense? Is Dropbox a scam?
- MarkSuper User II
Hi erin_villa
The reason you cannot accept the share is it must be just over 2gb. Shared folders use the quota of everybody involved so you need enough to access it.
If it was 2.01gb you'd not have enough space and so wouldnt let you add it.
One other thing to just check is that you havent added any backups: www.dropbox.com/backups

I am being told I'm over my Limit.
I have over the years recommended many people to Dropbox and in return was given 500mb per recommendation as a bonus.
I've built up to 19Gb of space in my account.
My drobox files amount to only 3.9gb.
I am being told I've used 22gb of my 19gb allowance and should reduce files.
As I am the only user and hardly ever share files, this doesn't appear right.
I cannot see the size of the individual files in the drobox account, but my Offline folder shows only 3.9gb in Total
I am so disappointed that I will stop recommending Dropbox unless I can resolve this.

Check your Backup page. You may have enabled the backup feature.

For the past three weeks I've been getting the same emails that my account is almost full.
I haven't been using Dropbox for a couple of years, no activity, and when I checked I was far from full.
So getting these emails now is really weird.
Current status is 3.7GB used out of 8.3GB (~45%) - including backups and shared folders and everything.
For the past 3 weeks I've received 5 emails about this.
My hunch is that the email notification system doesn't take into consideration the total capacity my account has and only looks at my plan and sees that I am over the basic 2GB capacity.
The only solution I've seen so far is to unsubscribe from account updates from Dropbox. But then you won't get important account information emails when you actually want it.

My issue is I get a message that I am: Out of space - 4.98 GB used BUT I can see NO files when I log on. I USED to see 4 DELETED files, but no longer see ANY files.
Please tell me what I am supposed to do in order to use my account.
Thanks,
John

Hi tonyusna60, let's jump right into this!
I assume when you mention that there's nothing in your Dropbox account, you've also checked your Backups to make sure the feature isn't enabled, right?
Let me know more!
