Cannot establish a secure connection after dropbox update to 111.4.472
After the dropbox app (Window 10) updates itself to the latest 111.4.472 version, I'm getting this 'Cannot establish a secure connection'.
I've checked my time on my laptop, router. It's fine. I've disabled firewalls and the whole Eset Security. I've checked my ports. Everything is fine. I've turned off the proxy setting inside app. Scanned my system for viruses, nothing fount. The only solution is to revert back to the older version, but if I do so, the app will update itself so I'm at the beginning.
I've just received some news that I'd like to share with you all here!
It appears that ESET has fixed the problem that was causing this error.
For anyone running ESET on their device, please update to the most recent version of ESET to update to the software.
Once you've done this, you should be fine to revert back to the latest stable version of the Dropbox desktop app. You can install this from here.
Otherwise, you can just allow the app to auto-update to the latest stable when a new version is released.
Let me know how it goes!

Same problem. The last Window 10 app version does not synchronize in my two laptops

Having the same issue since 111.4.472 on Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64
Until yesterday everything worked just fine, but today I can't connect to DB although my time settings are correct and my Firewall is set to allow everything from Dropbox. I even temporarily disabled my Firewall (ESET Internet Security 14.0.22.0) without any change.
I'm gonna search for an offline installer of a previous version now until this issue will get fixed.

Installed 110.4.458 and with my ESET Firewall set to "Interactive Mode" clicked on "Deny" access when the updater popped up while trying to connect...
Until next restart (which will take a while since I mostly use hibernation mode) Dropbox may work as before.
This may be one possible attempt to use DB until the issue gets fixed. Hope it helps.

112.3.254 Beta has resolved this problem for me until the stable fix comes in

Good morning I have a dropbox version 111.4.472 since yesterday I have the message "Cannot establish a secure internet connection" I checked the date and time and it's ok
- uncsuperfanHelpful | Level 6
The beta version 112.3.254 definitely fixes the problem. Since I don't use many of the more advanced features of Dropbox, I hope this beta will be relatively stable for me.
The main production version is definitely seriously messed up.

Update 3: The beta version 112.3.254 works fine... So it was definately a problem of the latest version. Another solution could be offered by using the portable dropbox app using a previous version and selecting not to update it automatically.

Hello,
Recently, I keep getting the error Can't establish secure internet connection in dropbox for desktop for a few weeks now.
I don't have a proxy, checked the date and time, and reinstalled dropbox, hopping that it will solve the issue.
I've also disabled my antivirus temporarily, and set the proxy settings to No Proxy with no avail.
Unfortunately, the issue is not solved.
Can I please get some help with this issue ?
Thank you

I have this problem too - and I can see that we have all had this issue since Saturday (could be Friday for some as I'm in Australia). There must have been some sort of update/tweak to their protocols which is causing this. Very frustrating because it makes Dropbox impossible to use unless you use it through the browser (and in that case why use Dropbox and not something else?) Has anyone been contacted by Dropbox with a solution? (*cough cough* customer service)

I have issues, I can't access my Dropbox from my computer.
- I tried setting the Proxy in Settings to "no", didn't work.- I tried disabling the firewall and antivirus, didn't work.
- I tried reinstalling Dropbox, didn't work either.
The date and time are correct on the computer, I simply don't understand what the problem might be. It worked fine until the last time I used it a few weeks ago. :(

Running Windows Home on intel 3770
Dropbox was working then today started acting stupid, saying the date and time were wrong (but they are correct)
Date and time in the bios is also correct.
I read this post
and tried setting the proxy to off as well as disabling eset. Still have the same problem. On another pc on the same LAN, dropbox works ok (that pc also has eset antivirus installed btw. The only difference is that it is running Windows 10 pro)
The time is correct. I updated windows home to 20H2 (the latest build). Removed dropbox completely. Removed eset completely. Reinstalled dropbox and STILL have the same problem. If I set the proxy to off, it still does not connect. If I stop the dropbox app and restart it, it restarts with proxy on auto.

Running latest dropbox v 111.4.472 and problem persists even if I start dropbox as admin.
How does dropbox decide if the time is right or not?

Exact same problem here..
I did the same steps and running win 10 with eset.

I have eset too, this isn't anything to do with them

Hi, today dropbox gives me the following problem ...
"unable to establish a secure connection, set date and time correctly on the system".
I have checked but the date and time are correct. How to do ? - RinidadaNew member | Level 2
I've been getting this message "Can't establish secure internet connection" since yesterday. Plus - something about the date and time supposedly set wrong on the computer. The internet is flying. Date and time are set correctly. Dropbox settings have "No proxy" box checked. My antivirus (EsetNod32) had been working smoothly with Dropbox for years and nothing has changed yesterday in its way either. I tried disabling my antivirus anyway - it didn't help. Any other suggestions? I've read all other threads here on the same topic. Their solutions didn't help. Opening a ticket through https://dropbox.com/support seems like a joke to me since that page has NO links or buttons to allow me to open such ticket. It has a link "find out more" which sends to a page that suggests going back to dropbox.com/support . It just ain't funny going in circles to find the answer. Please answer here.
Thank you!

I am too having the same problem from the past three days.

Hi there,
I have the exact same issue since late Friday. I have tried everything,
- I have installed every single W10 update available
- I have reinstalled Dropbox
- I have turned off my Antivirus software (ESET 32) and Firewall as well
- I have changed my clock to manual settings
On a different PC with an older Dropbox and W10 it works fine on the same network.
Nothing helped and seeing the amount of users with this problem it is clearly not an issue on my end.
