Can't cancel free trial
I'm trying to cancel my free trial, but I don't have that option. Here's what the instructions say:
The "plan" and "manage plan" are completely absent from my options. I then tried to delete my account altogether, but it told me to cancel any ongoing subscriptions first, and this is what it looks like for me:
As you can see, it doesn't mention a free trial anywhere, but it shows 3TB of space, which implies that I'm being charged for the service with no way of canceling. I've tried looking for phone support, but apparently you need to pay to speak with someone over the phone. I'm afraid I might have to cancel my credit card. Does anyone have any answers?
Hey Red Gerran, sorry to jump in here, but I just wanted to mention that it looks like your trial was indeed cancelled, but you'll get to keep the additional quota till the end of the trial period.
- Pam000Explorer | Level 3This exact thing happened to me. I even kept the email to prove that the account had been deleted and they were “sorry to see me go”. No way to talk to a human and now being charged. I tried to delete the account twice, but with a email that stated they were sorry to let me go , you can imagine I’m very upset about being charged!! Any advice???

- NieloNew member | Level 2I clicked on Android to look at Dropbox but when i saw an Auto subscription I shut down my phone window without clicking 'accept" I then clicked back in to confirm but there i was with a basic membership, which it said originally rolls over to a paid membership after 30 days. But now i cannot find where to cancel this. Ive followed the help function and the cancel option is not there.
In Australia we are protected by the ACCC which deals with this, ive taken screenshots and when my google account is charged i will be taking in to them, if your in Australia i woyld recommend this - Ashish BNew member | Level 2
I have an email saying I will be charged if I don't cancel the trial plan. And I cannot unsubscribe the plan from the settings or plan tab. I want to cancel my plan before I get charged!!!!!

Hey Ashish B, thanks for reaching out to us.
I moved your post to this thread, which is relevant to your issue, to keep things more tidy, I hope that's okay.
About your issue, do you remember how you started this trial in the first place?
Was it directly from our website or from the Dropbox app on your mobile device?
If it was created from the Dropbox app, you'll need to follow these steps to cancel it.

I started the account from my laptop, and now I don't have the option of canceling the trial period.

Hi, I can't cancel my free trial subscription as there's no "plan" tab? Thought I had cancelled prior to 16/12/23. You tried to charge for the Plus Plan. I see now that it’s difficult to navigate this site and to cancel free trials. I had cancelled but it’s impossible. Also for some reason I have 2 email addresses. Please help. Thanks, Kathy

Hey gregans9, thanks for reaching out to us here on the Dropbox Community.
How did you originally create your free trial? Was it directly through our website or the Dropbox mobile app?
If it was the mobile app, have you tried these steps?
As for the two emails, do you mean that you're seeing two different Dropbox accounts?

Dropbox is the biggest scam I have ever seen. Free trial, but you can't cancel. I tried to cancel it but you have taken money from my account and there is no way for me to cancel. Click on the plan you say, no plan is shown. Download the App you say, it just shows me having a free trial. I don't think you could make cancelling any harder if you tried. Deleting my account still lets you take money. You are essentially stealing money by making this so difficult.

If you are not seeing the trial on your account page you are logged in to the wrong account. You MUST log on to the account that has the trial on to be able to access it and cancel it.

I received an email from Dropbox reminding me to cancel my Free Trial if I don't want to be charged. When I click on my avatar & then click on settings, there is no 'Plan' tab & no 'Manage Plan' tab. I therefore cannot see a Free Trial.
All that appears is the Basic Plan which has 'Current Plan' in a greyed out box. Alongside this box is a second box that shows 'Upgrade Now' in a blue box under the Dropbox Plus option.
Where is the option to cancel the Free Trial that is referenced in the email I received from Drop Box this morning please?
Please help
Thank you

I am trying to cancel a basic 30 day free trial with no success. This is the most exasperating time I've ever had trying to cancel a trial. There is no option to cancel on either my phone or laptop. Selecting manage subscription just leads to a pitch for an upgrade. Someone please help. I've tried all the suggested methods. Thank you

I am unable to cancel a free trial plan too. This looks like a scam to me. Dropbox are clearly making it almost impossibl;e to cancel and will be taking money without the wishes of the client. There is no way to cancel and nobody who will help. I think the police should investigate this.

Now Dropbox community says my issue is solved - which it is NOT. This is just wasting my time. I will cancel the whole plan. This is not an ethical way to do business and i do not want them having any of my data.

Hi Annoyed Derek, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Can you please clarify if you started the trial on our website or if it was through the app store on a mobile device?
Also, what exactly is reported in your plan tab at the moment?
Keep us posted!
- Slick180Explorer | Level 3i signed up for the basic 30 day free trial plan a couple of days ago on my laptop.. not my phone, using my mastercard details but now want to cancel, i have followed the cancellation procedure but can't cancel it, i go to my aviator, settings, currant plan but cant' do anymore because current plan box which i spose to click on is greyed out, all i want is to cancel the subscription before the 30 days is up so i don't get charged yearly therefore after.

Hey Slick180, & Katie DSouza happy Monday, let's see what we can find together!
You mentioned a "Basic trial". Does that mean that you see your account as Basic when accessing your plan page?
If so, then keep in mind that the account might have already been downgraded, since Basic is our free plan. Is it possible that you have two Dropbox accounts, and not one?
Let me know more!
