Difficulty Installing Dropbox on M1 Macbook Pro - "Download Failed"
I find myself unable to install dropbox on this Macbook.
I am able to get the "dropbox installer" on the computer. When I start the process, the progress bar begins loading. I've tried dozens of times with different variables and the progress bar has never gotten past 1/3 of the way. It gives me a "Download Failed" message.
I have tried opening these from the applications folder as one post suggested. I've also tried a link that gave me a different download for "Dropbox140.41951.dmg". This download does not even open the progress bar. Naturally, I've tried this from the applications folder as well.
At this point, I'm lost. If anyone can help, I would be appreciative.
I've spent probably close to ten hours trying to figure this out and am no closer than where I began.
- JayDropbox StaffHi pwlt, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Could you try switching browsers to see if this helps?
Otherwise, you can try using incognito/private browsing mode without any extensions running, clearing your cache and even resetting your browser entirely.
Keep me updated with any progress!- pwltHelpful | Level 5
Thank you very much for the help! At the moment, still stuck though.
I normally use Chrome, but switched to Safari - I tried it a half dozen times and the same thing happens.
You know more than I do, but I'm not sure it's the web browser. The reason I say this is that I seem to be able to download the "Dropbox Installer" on to the computer just fine. When I open the dropbox installer, a pop-up opens with a dropbox icon saying "Install Dropbox, double-click the item below". After I double click this, dropbox seems to begin installing - even with a progress bar. But, the installation lasts for a few minutes and the progress freezes around 35%. After a few minutes, the "Download Failed" message pops up.
Anyway, thank you again if you continue helping.
