Free team disbanded by Dropbox
Hi Team,
Can someone please help with an email I received as below? Not sure what it all means
The ???? Limited team has been disbanded by Dropbox. Your team’s folders have been converted to shared folders, and all ??? Limited groups have been deleted. Your account has been converted to a personal Dropbox plan.
Reason I ask is that we had a colleague that left our company under bad terms.
Many thanks in advance.

Good morning.
For many years I have had a Dropbox account that I have always used without problems. I would like to know why without explanation my personal account was suddenly disconnected.
Thanks. Paolo.

Dropbox ended the support of Free Teams on the 31st of March - there has been lots of emails and comms sent out about this, however, you can get more info at https://help.dropbox.com/teams-admins/team-member/free-teams-overview

My yearly subscription debit order went off on the 10th of April and now i have been told that my account has changed and i need to upgrade to a new plan and i can now no longer get Dropbox on my linked devices.
Here is the email i received:
The Wickedink Media team has been disbanded by Dropbox. Your team’s folders have been converted to shared folders, and all Wickedink Media groups have been deleted. Your account has been converted to a personal Dropbox plan.
Please advise

You seem to have been using a free team, which allowed you to link two accounts together. Dropbox has ended support for free teams and those teams were disbanded, and the accounts unlinked.
Both accounts still exist. One would still be linked to your computer and the other, accessible by signing in with the email address for that account, can be accessed through the Dropbox website. Most likely what you're seeing now is the free account that you created for the team, which doesn't have your paid upgrade. You should be able to sign in with the email address/password for your other, paid account.

Hi Rich,
Thank you very much for your reply and yes that does make sense.
Now please bear with me as i am not the most technically advanced person.
Every time i log into Dropbox on your Website it automatically takes me to my "Free" account. Could you please tell me how i can log into my paid account?
Your assistance with this will be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Ashley

Hi,
I have an account which is linked to my main one. I tried to open it but dropbox has cut the link between the accounts......The linked account is associated with an email address that is no longer active and the password comes up as invalid. I cannot do reset as the email is no longer active. what can I do?
Many thanks for any help.

Your best option is to contact the email provider and see if they can reactivate the email address so you can receive the reset information. Without access to the email, you won't be able to access the account.

Can you look into my account and help me find the lost teams folder? Trouble is, the two folders were always linked and so I never specifically "logged in" to the work folder and have no idea how anymore! I will be so upset if I lose all my documents...

You likely had a free team that was disbanded. Dropbox ended support for free teams and all existing teams were disbanded. Both of your accounts still exist. One will be linked to your computer, and you can sign in to the other one on the Dropbox website using the email address associated with that account.
The team folder you had would have been converted to a shared folder, with both accounts a member of it. Look at the members of that shared folder and you should be able to identify your other account.

I fear the account was linked to an email address that no longer exsists and the project it was established for is long over - so no other team members... I have NO idea how to log in to find it!

Hi I just discovered that a team account i had linked to my personal folder has just disappeared. I had a host of very important files and folders for me and i wonder where has it gone and whether there is a possibility to recover those files. I have no idea how that might have happened.
thank you very much for your help

Was it a free team? If so, Dropbox started ending support for free teams back in January and all existing free teams were disbanded. Both of your accounts still exist. One would still be linked to your computer and the other is accessible via the Dropbox website. Just sign in with the email address and password for that account, and you'll be able to access it.

Hello Everyone,
until recently I had a 2GB work dropbox account and a 2GB personal dropbox account.
A couple of days ago I realized my work dropbox account has been removed from all of my computers and I really like to find my work files.
Has anybody had similar problems?
Highly appreciate any help!
Thank you in advance,
Anita

Your accounts were likely part of a free team, which allowed you to have two accounts syncing to your computer. Dropbox ended support for free teams back in January and any existing teams have been disbanded. Both of your accounts still exist. One will still be linked to your computer, and you can sign in to the other on the Dropbox website using the email and password for that account.
The only way to connect a work and personal account now is if one of the accounts is a paid Business account.

I had two accounts for years and one contained all of my forms and files from years of business, I din't use it often but still used it at least a few times a year. I was able to toggle back and forth between accounts on my app....dropbox deleted my accounts with the teams folders and it's years of work gone. Is there anyway to get it back???

Dropbox hasn't deleted anything. They've ended support for free teams, which simply allowed you to link two accounts and have them both sync to your computer separately. That functionality no longer exists for non-paid accounts and all existing free teams are being disbanded.
Both of your accounts still exist. One will be linked to your computer as it always has been. The other "work" account will still be accessible by signing in to the account through the Dropbox website.

Do I need to upgrade my Dropbox plan to allow my personal and business accounts to be linked? I am still using the most basic one which does not require any subscription.
I used to be able to link them and switch between the accounts within one Dropbox app on phone or computer. Few months ago, Dropbox just suddenly unlinked my accounts and now I have to sign out from one account to view folders of another account which is a lot of hassle.
If I need to upgrade, are there certain plans that only allow the switching of accounts?
Thank you!

If you're not already on a paid Business plan, yes. Dropbox has ended support for free teams, and all existing teams have been disbanded. This means your accounts would be unlinked and you can only sync one of them to your computer.
The only accounts that still allow you to link and switch between accounts are the paid Business accounts.
