Grey X on all dropbox files
Hello
Earlier this week, I reinstalled dropbox as to include my professionnal account aswell. I decided to go for smart sync as to save storage on my computer.
As such, I uninstalled dropbox, and reinstalled its latest version and logged my professionnal account and linked personnal account.
There seem to be an issue however, as I cannot access a single file on either of those 2 accounts, and when opening a folder, all the files of that folder finish with a grey X on the bottom left corner.
When opening a file with Word/Excel/Photos/... it just freezes and I am never able to open the file. All files stored on my computer directly (not on my dropbox), can be opened without issue; but I can't move a file from my dropbox to my desktop, as this freezes aswell. Seems there is some kind of sync issue, but I was not able to fix it, despite spending hours on all similar topics.
My dropbox app is running, but seems not to be able to sync those 2 files (stuck for hours)
Any help would be greatly appreciated
- JayDropbox StaffHi Alexis Franck, thanks for posting on the Community!
It seems that you're experiencing the issue at the bottom of this article on your device.
Do you have any other cloud providers running on your machine? Could you try temporarily quitting them to see if this helps?
This will help me to assist further!- Alexis FranckExplorer | Level 3
I uninstalled One Drive, but it doesn't help.
I don't think I have any other cloud service running, which services are you thinking of ?

I have all my files synced to drop box and most of them work just fine, but I have a couple of files that have a number of saved graphics mostly jpg and png. When I got to those files to access a graphic to load to another program they have an x on them and they are not accessible1 Why is that?

Hi bmisrasi, I'd be happy to help with that!
Would you be able to send me a screenshot of the Xs you see on the files? Keep in mind that I've merged your question under this thread, which describes what you are also facing.
Feel free to take a look at what has been suggested, and let me know more.

I have the same issue - the grey and the "X" on my photos. Customer support was, as an old friend used to tell me, "as useless as **bleep** on a bull." I read your threads and didn't see a final resolution. Were you ever able to get things straightened out? I would be interested in learning the secret.

all my photos have an x. how do i remove it and view my photos

Hey Carla Moody, sorry to see you're having trouble here.
If you right click on the files and choose to "make them available offline", are the gray X's replaced by green check marks and are you able to open the files?
