Issues with Camera Upload
I’ve been having issues with my Camera Upload feature in my IOS Dropbox App. Usually when I open the app on my iPhone X, Dropbox will start locating the photos that it hasn’t uploaded yet and start uploading them. Now, it just reads “Starting camera uploads….Looking for photos” but nothing ever happens. I’ve tried closing/re-opening the app, deleting the app/re-installing, updating my IOS, deleting other photo cloud apps (Google Photos), and even upgrading to Dropbox Plus. None of these attempts have help solve my problem. Does anyone have any advice?

Hi all,
Since a few weeks or months I have some strange issues with the camera upload on my iPhone.
I have several new Fotos and videos in my phones gallery but the dropbox app is always showing "Running camera uploads, Scanning your photo library..." without any progress.
The only workaround that fixes the issue for the moment ist to log off from my Dropbox account in the app and login again. After reactivating camera upload it works fine as long as I do not switch to another app.I already considered that the battery must be full or charging and I activated/deactivated WIFI/mobile data. Also I activated "use cell data to back up".
Is anyone aware of a similar issue?
My setup:
iPhone X with iOS 14.6
Latest Dropbox App 242.2.2
Located in Germany (don't know if this may affect)- DavidLaidlawNew member | Level 2
I have this same problem. It has been happening for a week or two.
I am nervous about deleting the app from the iPhone because it says all data will be removed. I have offline files and two accounts linked with it, and would prefer not to set it all up again. Since it didn't help the OP, it doesn't seem like an actual solution in any case.
Help!

- JayDropbox StaffHi JulianH3, thanks for posting on the Community!
If you're not on a Dropbox Basic plan with more than 3 devices connected, could you try uninstalling the app, rebooting the device, and re-installing it to see if this helps?
Keep me updated with any progress!- JulianH3Helpful | Level 6Hi Jay,
I am on a basic account with three connected devices (1x iPhone, 2x Windows). Anyhow I followed your advice and uninstalled, rebooted, reimstalled the app. The camera upload started immediately as expected, but after leaving the app and re-entering, I had the same problem.
Any more suggestions?

I’m having this trouble too. I have been doing camera uploads from my iPad Air (Mk 1) with no problems for several years. Now the app says "scanning library" and "backing up" but nothing is ever added to Dropbox. The most recent photo uploaded was 24 May 2021. There are 61 photos on the iPad which would normally be uploaded. I have updated the app but the iPad is not compatible with Apple's latest OS.
- FernandoGonzalezHelpful | Level 5I have the same issue, what I did so far:
1. Uninstall Dropbox app
2. Remove google photos
3. Install again
4. Check available space and I have more than 50gb
5. Also my plan it is 2TB
6. After install it again start sync but just old pictures
7. If I took new pictures it won’t upload again
Any other solution? - JayDropbox StaffHi there, could you try contacting the support team directly for further assistance on this matter?

I am having the exact same issue on an iPhone 12 Pro (and NO.... I have PLENTY of space left on the iPhone, DropBox and the PC I link to). I need to have this fixed ASAP!! If DropBox does not have a fix the need to find one!!

Same issue here, plenty of phone space on iPhone 11 Pro Max, I have the 2T Dropbox plan and plenty of space there. No uploads since April 23, 2021 and screen shows "Running camera uploads, Scanning your photo library"...but nothing happens. Everything is up-to-date as far as updates and still stuck here. Tried all the things that everyone else has. Need a fix ASAP!

My wife and I have both recently started having this issue. It's a huge disappointment since we almost exclusively use Dropbox to automatically backup up photos on our iOS devices.
She has a iPhone XS, I have an 11 Pro. Both phones have tons of storage free.
When we uninstalled and reinstalled the Dropbox app, it worked on her phone for a bit.. but then stopped again and is once again stuck at "Scanning your photo library...".
I tried the uninstall/reinstall again and it no longer has helped for either of our devices. Hopefully there will be a fix soon as we will not renew our subscriptions until this feature is working again.

Hi,
It could be that your phone has no space to run the Dropbox app. Maybe the app needs an update. Or there have been too many photos that the app can't run. Or there are too many things running on your phone simultaneously that the app can't run properly.

same prob here, just realised no uploads since july. a real quick fix seems to be signing out of db and signing in again.

I opened a support case and to be fair they came back with a fix within 24 hours and it worked for me at first but I am back where I started again today. Here it is, just in case it works permanently for you:
If I understand correctly, you are experiencing an issue with the Dropbox Camera Uploads feature on your iPhone device. Not to worry, I will look in to this for you right away.
As a first step, can you please try to clear the cache on your app and then sign out and back into your Dropbox account?
To clear your cache, please follow the steps listed below:
- Navigate to the “Personal” tab
- Tap the gear icon in the upper-left corner of the screen
- Select “Clear Cache”
Please note: If you do not see the gear icon on this main page, first click on the icon on the bottom right of the app that says “Account”, “Personal” or your Dropbox Business name. You should see the gear icon on this account page.
Once this is done then please ensure you log out of the Dropbox application, then restart your device and log back in again

I have the same issue. Worked fine until middle of last week (July 20th), but now it's just stuck on "Scanning library". I've tried everything suggested, plus toggling location services - no dice. I can still upload manually, but it's a hassle - would far prefer the automatic sync to work again.

Same issue just started for me. It has been working fine for years. Opened it up today and a few of my recent photos synced but then it got stuck on 'running camera uploads' and 'scanning your photo library'. Nothing more is happening and it is so frustrating. I am on an iphone 11. Come on dropbox - fix it please!

Installed Dropbox on Pixel 4 running Android 12 and enabled Camera Uploads. It uploaded some photos just fine, but then stopped. When I click the blue 'Select photos to upload' circle in the lower left corner of the Photos tab, I see the files that haven't been uploaded automatically. So I know Dropbox can see them, but why isn't Dropbox uploading them?
