Free team disbanded by Dropbox
Hi Team,
Can someone please help with an email I received as below? Not sure what it all means
The ???? Limited team has been disbanded by Dropbox. Your team’s folders have been converted to shared folders, and all ??? Limited groups have been deleted. Your account has been converted to a personal Dropbox plan.
Reason I ask is that we had a colleague that left our company under bad terms.
Many thanks in advance.

Several years ago I was invited to try a 2-gig version of the Business Plan. I continued to use my original Personal Plan as well as the new Business Plan.
Several years later I started a new part-time job, where I convinced my boss and his secretary to become Dropbox subscribers.
Half a year later they were running out of space (because they never clean anything up or make archives on other media or devices. They signed up for a Family Plan for the three of us. The secretary is the admin for the Family Plan.
I put the business plan files in the family plan.
This evening I received a message that my business plan has been disbanded.
I can't get back into the Family Plan. I went through my old email and found the original invitation, but it's no good any more.
I can't remember very clearly which email address was the userID for what -- but I have some good guesses.
I think I need you guys to relink for a couple of days and give me instructions for getting back into the Family Plan. I only knew how to do that when using the linking feature.
HELP! If you email me directly, I can give you my two dropbox accounts, and the address for the admin of the family plan. PLEASE HELP!

Good morning from Thailand. I've received E-mail that inform me about my team has been disbanded . I have a few questions about this.
1.I've never received any warning e-mail from Dropbox before, there's 2 persons in my team that can access my account, so if i've received nothing, it's mean this warning email has been sent to another, right?
2.If i want to restore my team, what i should do for this? Thank you. My teams' name is Na Ha Thai.- MarkSuper User II
Multiple emails have been sent to every Team owner so not sure where they've gone. This has the info on it https://help.dropbox.com/teams-admins/team-member/free-teams-overview
And to reset up the Team you need to pay as a Business user from www.dropbox.com/plans OR just use Shared folders instead.

I'm afraid there is no way now to relink the accounts. You need to log in to the account via the email you had or used - and without that there is no way to do it. Dropbox arent able to look up the records I'm afraid as they dont exist.
Have you tried searching emails for no-reply@dropbox.com ? Would somebody else on the Team have it?

Dropbox hasnt deleted it if it was a free team. It has simply unlinked them from the other account you have. See https://help.dropbox.com/teams-admins/team-member/free-teams-overview
To get in all you need to do is log on to that account via the website (possibly use an Incognito / private browser window) with the other accounts username and password.

- jfjdsaNew member | Level 2Hi,
I received an email notification today stating that the Dropbox Team I was in had been disbanded. I was a member, not an administrator, so never received an email alert.
The Dropbox Team had been connected to my personal account which is where my old iPhone had backed up photos. I would like to retrieve these photos, unfortunately the Team was created years ago as part of a university project I was involved in so I no longer have contact with the administrator. How can I retrieve my photos from the Shared Folder that's supposedly been created?? - Coastal_LivingExplorer | Level 4
At DB's suggestion a few years ago, I established a Shared Team account. Which has now been automatically disbanded. The email said it would be automatically converted to Basic/Personal, and this morning I had email that it was reaching capacity. I already have a personal account, so am I able to have two personal accounts now? Or is my only option to either pay an upgrade, or... dl all my 'Shared Team' files for safekeeping? I can't see a way to continue to sync to this folder/account. Also, the Shared Team folder has disappeared from my desktop/finder. I've already lost too much time trying to sort this out today, and I appreciate any help with this. Thanks. 🙂

Hey Coastal_Living, thanks for posting here!
It seems you're referring to the end of support for free teams.
If your account is full, then you'd need additional space in order to continue syncing. However, you should still have access to your content.
As for pairing two Dropbox accounts, one would need to be a personal one, and the other one would need to be a paid Business one, in order for this to happen.
If you have any questions, let me know.

@Megan, Thanks for your response. 🙂
So I reduced the files for the Shared Team acct (STA) so I'm well under the limit now. I did this web-based.However... if I understand, there's no way for me to sync the STA from my DT to DB unless I change it to a paid Business account? Since that would require me to pair the accounts?
TIA. 🙂

Got this email. I wasn't the one that set this up. Cannot risk losing all files in this dropbox..I have no idea what I need to do?
Does anyone know.
The Great Canadian Meat team has been disbanded by Dropbox. Your team’s folders have been converted to shared folders, and all Great Canadian Meat groups have been deleted. Your account has been converted to a personal Dropbox plan

My accounts were unlinked without notice and I've lost access to my work files. The password for my work account no longer works and the recover password feature is not sending me an email. This is frustrating as I've not received any communication that this was going to happen and now I can't even log in and get my work files.
How can I log into the account and at the very least transfer my important work files to the account I can access?

Up until now I've always been able to switch between my personal and my school account as they were linked. Yesterday my school one disappeared and I can't link them back to each other anymore, I have tried clicking the "link accounts" button but when I put in the details it comes up with a red error saying "sign into a team account" (I have the passwords correct too).
If i sign in through a browser or through the app I can sign into each account individually but I can't access them both at the same time and switch between anymore like I previously have always been able to. Has this happened to anyone else or does anyone know how to fix this?

This morning, I received a message that says "The XXX team has been disbanded by Dropbox. Your team’s folders have been converted to shared folders, and all XXX groups have been deleted. Your account has been converted to a personal Dropbox plan.
Under Dropbox Basic plan, I have had an ordinary individual account and a free team separately (to have more free space on top of the normal account, without sharing with other users). Now, this free team is gone and I can find the folders and contents underneath.
I checked "Shared" in the individual account, but I do not find any folders under the free team.
How can I find those folders and contents? Or, is it really erased completely and cannot be recovered?
Your support will be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi,
I had the same problem yesterday and I did not receive the emails they talk about saying that they will stop the free teams...
You did not lose your files. They are still on your hard drive. Follow the path : your hard drive/users/yourusername/Dropbox(work).

Hi, rahan, thank you for your advice! I found it!!! So relieved....

See the problem I reported yesterday (below) since TEAMS was discontinued. Now my files don't seem to be synching: Changes I make on my hard drive are not appearing online. I can't find any way to tell DB which directory it is supposed to be synching with. Help?
Help! I thought the DB notice said that when TEAMS ended our folders would still be available but I couldn't access them. Luckily I had them backed up. I had a large capacity non-TEMS acct to which I added the TEAMS acct years ago when it was available. I copied my backed up folders to that acct but had to re-invite all the sharers. DB seems to think this is a business acct because it prompted me to open a free personal acct. I also took the offer of a free trial STANDARD business acct. So now I'm completely confused as to which acct is which and where my files are.
