Can't access email to get 6-digit code
I can login successfully, but needs me to check 6-digit code in email.
Before immigration, login dropbox never needs me to check 6-digit code in email.
After immigration, it needs me to check 6-digit code in email. (same computer)
My email account was disabled (long time no use and I forgot the password), I can't login to my email to check the 6-digit code.
I only want to login Dropbox without check email 6-digit code, so what can I do?
Thanks
Paddy123, is there any chance you have any devices that are still linked to that Dropbox account (via a desktop/mobile app)?
If yes, please check their notifications as the one-time code may be there.
Let me know how that goes.

You need to maintain an active email address on your account so you can receive password resets and one-time security codes used during sign in.
To contact Support, visit the Support page while you're NOT signed in to a Dropbox account, including these forums, and you'll see an option for sign in issues. It's best to use an Incognito or Private browsing session to make sure you're not signed in.

You need to provide more details of the issue before anyone will know how to assist you.
Do you remember the email and password you used for your account? Do you have access to that email? Are you getting an error when you try to sign in? etc.
Please describe, in detail, the problem that you're having.

Hi abueljebain, welcome to our Community!
If I understand your situation here, it sounds like you no longer have access to the email address linked to your Dropbox account, therefore you no longer receive the 6-digit security code, right?
If this isn't the case, feel free to let me know.
Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!

Correct. No email. No code.

I have an old account with Dropbox. It know the email and old password but that email does not exist anymore to access the 6 digit security number from to enter into the account. I have tried the suggestions in the help section -that is a colossal waste of time by the way. Can anyone help me with this?

I know my email and password but do not have access to the email anymore as it was a school email and has been deactivated so I cannot reactivate it.
When logging in it asks for a 6 digit code which I cannot receive due to not having access to the email. Does anyone know a way to log in without the code or how to get the code somewhere else?

This account is [removed] which is a different account than the one I'm trying to access. The one I'm trying to access is under [removed]

- mairiclaire76Explorer | Level 3This has happened to loads of is. The agent will send u security questions when I finally get a reply and I answered all mine and they still won't give me access. It's like talking to a brick wall. They ask u to contact them. Then u explain u can't recieve the code and then after loads of faffing about u end up loosing any thing u have stored with Dropbox as they still don't let u access it

Any idea ?
have dropbox app on mobile and just discovered its linked to email adress of my former employer.
mail adress does not exist anymore - i.e. I could log on in the app, while still knowing the password, but doing on the pc, dropbox send a verification code to that no longer available mail adress.
Inside the app there is no obvous way to change the mail adress
What to do ?

If you have access then you need to download everything and set up a new account. Thats the quickest and easiest way of doing so.

Hi - my dropbox is linked to an old hotmail email, so Im not receivin g the 6-digit verificattio. I would like to change to another email, but I must've created a dropbox in that name already. So I cant just rename it.
Is there an easy why to get around this?

https://help.dropbox.com/account-access/lost-email-access is what you need to look at
If you already have an account with a diff email just log on and start using it ( www.dropbox.com/forgot if you are unsure of password). If you can still get on the hotmail account download it all and reupload to the 'right' account.
- MMoodleyNew member | Level 2Hi. The admin team member of drop box has passed away. I am trying to log in however it asks me for a verification code. I dont have access to his email account. Is there another way to access it?
- HannahDropbox Staff
Hey MMoodley, really sorry to hear about this.
Do you perhaps have access to any devices they might have had linked to their account? The 6-digit code should be sent to those as well.
If not, try submitting a help request to our support team directly through this page, while not logged in to your Dropbox account (you can try from a private browsing window).

Is there any way to access accounts that were created under an email address that's no longer valid? That is, is there another way to get the code that dropbox sends to the invalid account? And if not, why not?

You can try contacting Support, but typically without access to the email address there's no way to access the account. Your email is the only way to verify that the account is yours.

Hi there, I have created a new account so that I can log into Dropbox to deal with my problem with my Original Dropbox Account that I can no longer get into.
I almost always use Dropbox App on my phone which gave me quick and automatic access to my photos on my Dropbox App. I have had this for several years and it has never been a problem. However unbeknown to me it never occurred to me that during this time a change in email address would be a problem as it always worked......
Until I logged onto Dropbox via the desk computer yesterday.........it wanted me to log in again.......that was all fine, I did this using the old email address and I know my password so all good. The bad news is the verification code I had no access to this as it was sent to my old email address. That ISP no longer exists and there is no platform in which to access the email. I still have the old mail program to see old emails but it stops where the ISP server shut down in 2019.
Please can someone help. I can "log in" but cannot enter the verification code and trying to get in touch with Dropbox seems impossible. I was hoping that by opening a new account as I have here, I could transfer everything across but I still think the verification code is going to stop me!!
A huge thanks in advance, fingers crossed

Thanks for posting this here, macnutz!
From what I understand, you’re referring to this one-time security code.
If you’re still signed into your Dropbox account on the mobile app, can you please check your notifications? It’s possible you’ll be able to find your one-time code there.
Otherwise, you’ll need to log a ticket with our support team this way and send me your ticket number here afterwards.
Let me know how that goes.
